Pleased to see & hear four different grasshopper sparrows this morning singing atop the landfill grasslands at Croton Point just after dawn, along with four singing male bobolinks. Vimeo video of one grasshopper sparrow: https://vimeo.com/170279500
Posts for an interpretive sign that will highlight the importance of this small grassland for these and other species are now up on the NE side of the landfill with actual sign installation coming next week. (This is the second interpretive sign for the landfill, both funded via much-appreciated chapter collaborative grants from Audubon New York to Saw Mill River Audubon, with installation via in-kind support from Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation, & Conservation.)
