Then I perhaps miss-directed the email. Sorry for miss understanding you.

Is anybody on this mailing list who is willing to setup up to do the code merge that seems to be a hop topic recently???

Regards,
Hiram

I am asking to postpone the decision till we set up the infra stuff.
that's all. As i mentioned in several previous emails[1]

"People who end up sweating doing the day-to-day work will take the decisions"

So far no one has sweated on the "APACHE ODE PROJECT".

So if the PPMC or PMC do not make technical decisions, why are you as
non-code contributor (for now), trying to force a code merge?
I would expect that any such proposal would come from a active
commiter from the community. In other words, he who proposes such a
beast of work has the responsibility for implementing it. :)

Technical decisions do not belong to the PMC/PPMC. Nor do they belong
in [EMAIL PROTECTED] Let's get the ball rolling and attack these on

Why are you being so negative? Let's try to make it work. If it does
not then we decide what do next as a PPMC.

I did not know that technical decisions were the responsibilities of
the PMC/PPMC. Could you explain further?

Being negative for one second...i can safely say that in the worst
case scenario - Sybase and PXE folks do have other choices
(codehaus,sf etc...) as they own the copyright to the code that they
contribute.

It's not nice to tell folks to leave if they don't want to do it you
way. As I see it, the ODE community which is made up mostly by the
code contributers, still does not have consensus actually doing a
code merge. So lets not go crazy telling folks they should elsewhere
when there is no need to do that.

To be clear - I was talking about the 2 Apache code bases which are
seeded from Sybase and PXE.

e.g. will existing PXE users happily sit on their hands for a year
patiently waiting for the grand unification? What if we can never
agree the "one true engine"?

Users who come to our projects
should be focused on what we're doing, and not looking for
support for
vendor products. Keep in mind that the package names will
change to
org.apache.*,

I know - its exactly the org.apache.* code I was talking about.
