I am not certain what "software" 
you are referring too.
It is no mystery concerning publishing and printing your own.
Can you be a bit more specific?
You need no special software for          e-books other than. Adobe Pro.and Word
"pdf" files work great with "kindle".
All pictures, background etc are fine
Several will allow music embedded in your "pdf" files to play....upload to 
"open library" your "pdf" files for folks even with a "video" embedded and they 
work lovely.. give them a bit of a surprise.
Need more information or want a "sample" give me a little message and I shall 
answer.
Just about any addition of word from 3 up is all you need.
I have been using same for 15 or more years.
Not a rocket scientist deal.
