DES being turned off in a site's Kerberos realm is not an OpenAFS issue. That is an organizational policy. The DES functionality has not been removed from OpenAFS distributions. For that matter, none of the client side kaserver support has been removed either, nor will it be for many years. Jeffrey Altman
