yes, there is some support for skeletal animations, using vertex
skinning either on the CPU or GPU. I'd say it is reasonably complete
and we use it for one of our projects to animate characters (there is
also an example for that use case in Examples/Advanced/Character).
There exists also an animation system as part of David Kabala's OpenSG
Toolbox (see github.com/djkabala/OpenSGToolbox). AFAIK it can animate
a larger range of Fields in pretty much arbitrary FieldContainers, but
requires some extensions to OpenSG that David has developed, but that
are not merged into OpenSG itstelf, so for now it is part of the his
repo.
