Hi Paul, I'd say that osgSim::OverlayNode is "uses" projective texturing, rather than can be used for projective texturing. As for decal effects, this is such a broad brush I can't really answer the question without more qualification. osgSim::OverlayNode's typical use if adding country boundaries or roads onto terrain using projective texturing.
