Hi, I've just submitted a related code sample to osg-submissions. It currently does bump mapping and soft shadows.
Things to improve are: - this needs to support more light sources (not necessarily for shadowing though) - it needs better material handling (support for emissive colors, reflective surfaces, gloss maps...)
