A thick cloud of smoke rose from the site of the blast and there was an exchange of gunfire immediately afterwards, the witnesses said. There was no immediate information on any casualties. U.S. military officials were not reachable for comment. The U.S. military has a small fortified camp in the center of Ramadi, an unstable city effectively in the hands of insurgents.
