I didn't know that they lack serial numbers, or at least I haven't checked the converter that I have. But it's not a problem since I use this with a laptop and not on a server that needs to find the serial device always at the same place. Good information to know if I ever need to leave the pl2303-based converter connected permanently, though. I am using your udev trick to find my 1-Wire masters (2 of them) and an INSTEON PLM always at the same place. Cheers!
