I have 2.8p2 now running since weeks, in one special environment "tuned"
close to the edge of non-functionality (with extra long cables and
capacity), but it still works flawless, not one hanging owserver in several
systems :-)
OK, you already had a closer look to the sources, maybe it is self-healing,
but I don't care - it works!

Of course at the end I would appreciate having an up-to-date version working
too...
