I was using ZBar http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/zbar/ (free) to extend the task bar across two monitors - recently switched to Dual Monitor Taskbar http://sourceforge.net/projects/dualmonitortb/ (also free) as it has better Windows 7 theme support.
