What's the minimum focus distance on the Tokina? That's where some of the less expensive primes and zooms fall short. The A400/5.6 focuses at 2.8 metres. You'll need close focus ability for birds.
The Tokkina focuses to 4 meters, which isn't good, but a short extension tube gives it a nice working range.
