And to answer the question: Of course. Color printing is infinitely easier now. And with far more precise control of variables, inkjet printing is superior to optical printing as well. In theory, with a large format neg, a superb enlarging lens and lots of time, one cold produce a superior optical print, but I would that that, in practice, that rarely happens.
