I apologize, Paul.  As usual, you are correct, and I am wrong.

My problem is that in Jersey we have the white breasted nuthatches:

Whereas yours appears to be a red breasted nuthatch:
https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-breasted_Nuthatch/id

As you can see, the white breasted looks nothing like your nuthatch, but
does resemble our chickadees:
