Absolutely - I'll happily accept a patch that enables this...

Why dont you stick with an older release?

Unfortunately, I didnt expect PLA to please everyone each release (as it
has just gone though some major changes). I have however maintained the
expectation, that if it can be improved, then a patch would be supplied
by the PLA user(s) to resolve any disappointment (if they really cared
to make it better).

As an LDAP admin, I've changed PLA to work the way I want it to work for
my usage, keeping a few guidelines in place (so that I think other
people would find it valuable too). I have also maintained a principle
(in the open source spirit) that if somebody submits a patch to make PLA
better (while maintaining those same guidelines), I will happily accept
their patch or modify it to suite. As a result a lot of PLA that I
actually dont has been brought to life this way - the hooks system is
one example here.

You made a comment that the "the way hooks are used changes often"; I've
been developing PLA for over 2 years now (I think), and I havent changed
the hooks system once in that time (however there have been patches from
users who fixed it when I broke it; as I dont use it). So what changes
are you referring to?

Ryan, if PLA can be changed to work better with the way you want to use
it, then submit a patch for review. This is why PLA functions they way
it is today. (Keep an open mind if your patch doesnt get reviewed "quick
enough"; I (and the other developers) have a full time paying job, which
Im sure you'll appreciate gets priority...)
