John, this is a good idea for pebbles. However, you are going to distort perspective somewhat and you'll get less of an image than you would by simply tilting your camera down. Why not try it by putting a second aperture in your camera at the lower position? The description of your camera reminds me of the ones I make from paint cans. Jim Kosinski www.paintcancamera.com
