Right after my LQ (Linux Quarrel) with Debian when I shot myself in the
foot upgrading to unstable on one machine, I checked out the websites of
the BSDs (FreeBSD and NetBSD, I can't afford OpenBSD) to gather more
information. The FreeBSD ports, in particular, was very interesting.
I was put off by the filesystem, though. UFS with SoftUpdates still
doesn't seem to be much compared to ReiserFS and XFS, both of which are
available for Linux and seem to work very well (approaching stability,
especially ReiserFS which has already made it to the 2.4 kernel).
I have not found any benchmarks yet on I/O intensive operations. Perhaps
you can help me out by pointing me to some URLs?
