+ The C++ Programming Language by Stroustrup (if you swing that way.. I
dont)
+ Programming Perl 3rd Ed
+ APUE by Stevens. If you can only have one Stevens book, this is it
+ UNIX Network Programming by Stevens
(the SysV/XTI/TLI Stevens book is not needed.. nobody uses TLI. heh.)
+ The UNIX Programming Environment by Kernighan and Pike. A very oldie
but still goodie (learn to use troff!! pic!! eqn!! make!! cc!! etc)
