Well, as discussed already on this thread, if you read the German
antisemites of the 1870's and onward, the predominant themes are
complaints about Jewish domination of German finance, industry and
journalism.  I don't know if you dispute this or not.  This is an
example of resource competition.  Jews were outcompeting Germans for
access to money, education, and the levers of political power in
Germany.

Also consider Arab antisemitism.  This is based almost entirely on the
artificial insertion of a Jewish State in their midst which has
displaced the original Arab inhabitants and which is openly
expansionistic and is rapidly settling more and more territory.

Then again look at the black/Jewish split in the States.  These former
allies in the civil rights movements are now frequently at each other's
throats.  A major cause of this rift were conflicts caused when Jews
started getting jobs as teachers in New York City - jobs that had
traditionally gone to blacks.

Why do you find this surprising?  This is just human nature.
