Hi guys,
I'm the staff contact at Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) for the Latino Scholarship Fund, first announced December 2004. Businesses, non-profits, corporations, and individuals are contributing to this endowed fund in order to increase access to higher education for Latinos in Minnesota. Unlike a one-time contribution that is given and spent in the short-term, the endowment is a permanent fund which, over the years, will create a long-term financial resource for Latinos.
Latino Economic Development Center has, for the past year, been communicating with The St. Paul Foundation to begin the process of developing the fund, which will be affiliated with El Fondo de Nuestra Comunidad. El Fondo supports the scholarship fund but a separate committee will be choosing the students who will receive the awards. Please be patient in that we are barely getting infrastructure support to get raise funds and promote the fund. We have regular committee meetings, if you'd like to be invited, please let us know.
