For this online news report to be ultimately
effective it must grow to such a size that it and the ideas it espouses can't be
ignored. So do your bit and help circulate it far and wide. If we are to
challenge the elites (the Packers and the Murdochs) view of history, politics,
economics, the environment, the structure of society etc., then we are going to
have to do more than wait. We are going to have to be very active and vigilant.
We have given you one of the tools (information & a medium for comment) you
will need. Help us to help you. Lets fan the flames of knowledge. Spread the

Opinion: Children on drugs
A study recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Association has revealed that nearly 7 million children in the US are taking powerful psychiatric drugs. Incredibly, children as young as two years old are being prescribed them. In some classrooms it's up to 4 in every 10 children. This is child abuse on a massive scale. This proves we are a child-hating society. The Australian's Los Angeles correspondent Robert Lusetich has described it as "a method of control: biochemical restraints for teachers and in some cases, parents unable or unwilling to cope with unruly children." (22 / 3 / 00). He claimed that such normal behaviour for four-year-olds as fidgeting, being unable to sit still or listen for a long time, and being unwilling to stand in line may result in the children being sent to the schools' psychiatric nurse who will help them get "better". Because of their natural boisterousness, boys are most at risk. One US mother who stopped giving her 8 year old son a Prozac-like drug was ordered by the school-referred psychiatrist to resume the doses. She refused, and at 10 p.m. two policemen and two social workers came to her house and took away her four children including a five month old baby. Because she wouldn't drug her child, she was deemed an abusive mother. According to Lusetich, she hasn't seen her children since. Yes, it's outrageous, but what can we do? There is no accepted test for the diagnosis of ADD (attention deficit disorder) and ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). These 'diseases' were invented in the 80's by psychiatrists. But paediatric neurologist Dr Fred Baughman Jr says there's no evidence of any physical or chemical abnormality in children diagnosed with ADD or ADHD or any other mental illnesses. Significantly, the Australian's editorial notes the diagnosis is "greatest among single parent families and those who have no history of employment". This strongly suggests ADD and ADHD are the result of poor parenting rather than disease. But naturally governments don't want to be seen as 'judgemental' or 'discriminatory'. And so the tragedy unfolds: governments re-label the results of dysfunction as disease. Drug companies are making billions from drugging children. And while there's no evidence of any neurological disorder to cause the 'disease', the treatment is causing damage. "One in 10 children on long-term Ritalin therapy have been found to suffer from brain atrophy (shrinkage), and there are more than 100 known side effects from the use of this drug." 4. Opinion
Sale of Telstra Some people are indignant that regional Australia objects to the privatisation of the remaining third of Telstra. They say they want the shares. Well quite frankly there's no shortage of shares to buy at the moment. The simple reason the bush is hanging out is that public control of Telstra is their only bargaining chip. Once Telstra is fully privatised the bush can wave good-bye to communications. Why? Because it will always be unprofitable to service regional Australia. It's just so vast and sparsely populated that it's uneconomic for any private company to take it on. Regional Australia is not like France, or even the US which is comparable in size, but which has a more even population spread. In regional Australia service is bad now; it would be non-existent with the full privatisation of Telstra. My husband told me tonight about somebody who finally got a technician out to fix a fault (this was Optus), but the technician was only allowed to stay for two hours. He didn't find the fault in two hours and so the problem hasn't been fixed! On ABC's PM (Wednesday) Bob Katter spoke about similar experiences. So we as Australians have to ask ourselves a very simple question: do we think all Australians should have access to services? If you're with Ross Cameron, you'll say no. You'll say, if people choose to live there let them take the consequences. If on the other hand you still see us as one nation you'll say yes. Our country was built on co-operation and mateship. For equity, cross-subsidisation is necessary for Australia, but it's currently out of fashion. Antonia +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
5. Opinion Productivity Slows Well it had to happen, didn't it. Just as there are limits to human sports records - well humans can't swim the 1500 metre freestyle or run a mile in one minute unless they go into bionic enhancement - so there are limits to labour productivity gains (without new technology). Labour productivity was over 4 per cent in 1997, over 2 per cent in 1998, and just 1.5 per cent in 1999. In other words, they've cut all the fat, and now they're down to the bone. But unbelievably, "economists are uncertain about the causes of the easing in productivity." (Australian, 22 / 3 / 00). These people certainly live in ivory towers. Here's my favourite quote on economics and particularly, economists. It's by Evan Jones, senior lecturer in Economics at the University of Sydney. I reckon it ought to be copied and circulated widely until enough people learn how our stupid politicians are being led by the nose by dim-witted ideologues. Jones said: "Most economic commentary is unmitigated blather. It would be impossible to overestimate the extent of absurdity in contemporary economic culture. Black is white. Rubbish is good sense. .... The market mechanism is the source of all .... economic vitality. Anything that interferes with the free workings of the market has to go - unions, public enterprise, government spending. ... The economics profession has contributed to one of the great intellectual scandals of the 20th century. The centre of gravity of the economics discipline is a gigantic hoax. It involves an intellectual travesty and a social disaster of the first order. A respectable, rigorous training in economics is a cretinising process. It involves constant deskilling which leads to losing touch with the much maligned 'common sense'. It obliterates any conception of man / woman as a social being." ["Down With Economics", The Bulletin, 8 / 10 / 91] Antonia ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
6. Opinion:
Fighting inflation? Or naked greed. All the economic and business chooks are excited about the Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan's lifting of interest rates to "rein in the economy". Greenspan and the Federal Open Market Committee are allegedly afraid of inflation. But some of the chooks are beginning to be puzzled - mainly because there's no sign of inflation. The poor innocent things have believed all the mumbo jumbo they've been taught and now are getting confused. The trouble is their text books haven't told them how the economy really works. Dr Greenspan, whom they routinely describe as the most powerful man in the world, is little more than the messenger boy who tells the President what Wall Street wants. Far fetched? Well the chief economist of the Chase Bank in New York said it: "It is really the bond market that runs the country not the President and not Alan Greenspan." (quoted in News Weekly, Special edition, 1997) And who or what is the bond market? " ... a loose confederation of wealthy American bankers, financiers, money managers, rich foreigners, executives of life insurance companies, presidents of universities and non-profit foundations [such as Rockefeller] ... and [the mutual] funds." All this talk about raising interest rates to keep the lid on inflation is hogwash to deceive people. They do it to make money. In 1994, Greenspan pushed interest rates up by a hefty 3 per cent using the old inflation scare. But Brian Hale, New York correspondent for the Australian Financial Review asked himself, "If there is no inflation, why are interest rates really being raised?" and answered himself thus, "The bottom line is that the big speculators want US interest rates up...The central banks can either pay them their profits to shut them up, or find better ways of coping with the volume of hot money now free to move around the globe in a millisecond." As Santamaria said, "Of course they want interest rates to rise. If, to accommodate them, ... you raise the bond rate by three per cent as they did, it is worth an extra $216 billion a year." blowing
50,000 children on psychiatric drugs By SARAH STOCK and ROBERT LUSETICH 23 mar 00 The Australian AT least 50,000 children in
Australia were using powerful drugs to treat attention deficiency disorders, the
Australian Democrats said yesterday. South Australia had experienced an
almost 2000 per cent increase in psychostimulant use between 1991 and 1995, a
spokesman said.
The US Government acknowledged for
the first time this week that powerful mind-altering psychiatric drugs were
being overprescribed to millions of American children and announced
initiatives to investigate attention deficit hyperactive disorder
(ADHD).
On ABC radio yesterday, US behavioural paediatrician Lawrence Diller said the US was passing Australia its "Ritalin epidemic" in the same way it gave us Coca-Cola and McDonald's. South Australian Democrats leader Mike Elliott called on the state Government to follow the US Government's lead and conduct a parliamentary inquiry into the disease. "First lady Hillary Clinton is concerned by a 150 per cent growth in psychostimulant use for ADHD between 1991 and 1995, but over that period it grew in SA by almost 2000 per cent," he said. The Australian Medical Association
is also concerned that insufficient research has been done into
the effects of the stimulant medications, such as Ritalin. Association
president David Brand said it was not yet clear whether the drugs had
any effect on brain development. High dosages over long periods might
lead to problems later, Dr Brand said.
The federal Health Minister's office
denied Australian had a problem. "Our prescription rate is less than 1
per cent of the child population and does reflect the level of ADD illness in
the community," a spokesperson said. "This is quite small compared to
the US, where about 25 per cent of kids between two and six are on mind-altering
drugs."
Meanwhile, a leading US mental health expert called yesterday for a complete moratorium on the prescription of powerful psychiatric drugs, including Ritalin and the antidepressant Prozac, to children under the age of six. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. b) Quotation: Dr. Philip Regal,
Professor of Ecology, Evolution, and Behaviour at the University of Minnesota
and an internationally recognised plant expert, on the decision (May
1998) by concerned scientists and consumers to sue the US Federal Department of
Agriculture (FDA) for failing to protect public health and provide consumers
with relevant information about GM
foods:
"Over the last fifteen years, I and
other scientists have put the FDA on notice about the potential dangers of
genetically engineered foods. Instead of responsible regulation
we have seen bureaucratic bungling and obfuscation
that have left public health and the environment at risk."

GST Petitions
The GST petition has been officially blacklisted under orders of the paper giants. People who have paid for advertisements have had their money returned with their advertisement and told that they are not going to be run in any newspaper. We have seen this happen in even our local independent paper. That is the strength these people have over us. The papers have been told not to advertise or promote ANYTHING to do with petitions, mandates or protests over the GST. DEBBIE Editors: This is disgraceful, unbelievable. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Debbie
In principal I agree with the rights
of editors and publishers to determine what articles get written and what
advertisers can advertise. I do not subscribe to the theory that
whatever a person wishes to advertise, just because the person has the
appropriate money, must necessarily be accepted. The same holds true with
letters to the editor from readers or articles produced by journalists etc. I
don't see the need for legislation to ensure that that happens. Because if
anybody could advertise what they want, you could end up with pornography,
prostitution, drugs etc and numerous other matters I find objectionable, being
advertised in the front pages of papers.
However this view of mine is consistent only
in the case of a perfect market for news dissemination. I.e.
where there are many independent publishers of newspapers each
prepared to get the "real" news out to get circulation. Such a
perfect market for news reporting has not existed in The West
for decades, if not a century. For those who what more information on
the longevity of this control of the media, I suggest you read
"Manufacturing Consent" by Noam Chomsky.
In the current situation this
injunction from the top
means effectively censorship of news,
activities, petitions etc that the elite find uncomfortable or
dangerous to their interests.
We can but only do what we can to
create alternative media, of which this News
Report, humble and primitive though it might be, is a start and
a step in the right direction.

Vaccinations
Regarding item 11 on mass vaccination,
several references to cancer producing chemicals were made. In general,
cancer is the result of a lack of vitamin B17 (laetrile) found in some
types of seeds and apricot kernels. It is an extremely stable compound
made of cyanide and two sugars, and normally passes straight through the body.
However, cancer cells emit a certain type of enzyme which breaks the molecule
into cyanide and sugar. The cyanide is then right next to the cancer cell and
kills it.
Since our western diet is highly processed
and lacks seeds, the west has a high percentage of cancer victims. The so called
carcinogens are actually cancer triggers, but they are not the "bullet" itself.
The "bullet" is a lack of B17 in our diet. Freedom Foundation (Phone 8294 2767)
has an excellent video on this subject called 'World Without
Cancer'. Several books have been written on the subject. One is
'Freedom from Cancer'. Try the internet as well.
PS we abandoned immunising our children a couple of years ago. The youngest (never immunised) is the healthiest. Colin Gibson

NRA Furore
THE TRUTH MIGHT SURFACE - MIGHT! These words
of mine are equally relevant here, despite being written for another
forum.
IF PEOPLE WANT THE TRUTH - GO to: November
1999 the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) released statistics on
Australian crime. Articles relating to those figures are at:
http://www.ssaa.org.au/ozcrime3.html http://www.ssaa.org.au/ozcrime1.html http://www.ssaa.org.au/ozcrime2.html G'day all - 2300 JUSTIN - To answer your question - in this society, money is GOD. Lying and distorting to make MONEY is just part of this "Great Society" which we have created, and which most people's subservient ignorance only perpetuates. Media is business - business primary goal is to make money - telling truth does not make money - telling lies and blowing things out of proportion does make money - the result?? Difficulty with all that is - the perception and mindset of the general public is deliberately altered. None less than the propaganda campaigns of tyrants of history. Governments are expert at it - and killing! The retired USA military
psychiatrist Grossman in USA is an expert in conditioning people to kill other
people - a somewhat necessary part of the military. He confirms and
identifies with we mere firearm owners have been saying for many years.
Young minds are being altered - violence is an acceptable and effective
solution - killing has little if any meaning - they are learning skills and the
mindset to inflict hurt, but without the discipline -- as or more
effectively than military mind doctors, and provided to them courtesy of
the media and so called entertainment industry.
These are the same entities which absolve
themselves of any responsibility, and most deliberately seek a scapegoat to
blame - that scapegoat is US. In their selfish quest
they do irreparable damage to society. Our problem is that we are
constantly refused a fair right of reply, for by telling the
truth, with balance and fairness, we pose a substantial threat to their status
quo - thus affecting their income and their God. We are but scapegoats
- we are the ogre and the gun the demon. Add to that liberal
doses of "black dog" logic and the recipe is complete. Money will
continue to be GOD - lies and deceit at all levels will continue
- crime and all things bad will continue.
If 'we' firearm owners are gone - who else will there be to blame? 2297 - JOHN - Re self defence - intruders etc - CORRECT. Most people have never experienced some scum intruding into your personal security zone. It is NOT a pleasant experience. Having been there and done that on a few occasions, and having a the means to resist such intrusion, I can speak with a degree of authority. The mindset we sporting shooters have is totally different to that required for self defence. Pulling the trigger can be a difficult thing, and has responsibilities - that which the other party lacks!! However, as DOUG says - most situations are
in fact defused by simply displaying the tool - thus posing to the
violator the thing he uses and respects most - the threat of FORCE.
Most often, the violator cannot bee seen for the dust left in his wake. NRA -
advertisement. Wot a hornets nest eh? Listened to Don Wetherburn of
Institute of Crime? yesterday on radio - Amazingly he said the NRA figures were
distorted, then went on to confirm that the rises had occurred, but were
drugs and crime related. Duhhh!! That must be
OK!!
That must also mean that the new
laws and buyback have been ineffectual for the druggies and criminals have not
taken any notice of them. (brain rattling stuff this!!) That must also
mean that law abiding firearm owners have upheld tradition and done just
that - abided by law. Were we not promised a safer Australia as
justification for the new laws and buyback? Well then - Australia is
not a safer place, firearm crime and crime generally has increased.
Our esteemed AG - Darryl, prattles on about
distortions - he should know - one of his forte's
Firearm suicides have decreased, but
has made NIL impact on suicide numbers for they have not only correspondingly
increased, but have worsened. The do-gooders make a big deal of
decreases in firearm suicides, but ignore the root causes, thus method
substitution continues, and suicides actually INCREASE. VERY CLEVER! Whatever
happens - the current media frenzy is good, for at least it
gives us a chance to be heard. It will be interesting to see if
the full and fair truths are brought to the fore. MUST BE
OFF.

Feedback: The Pontifical Academy on Life said that
people should be conceived and born `in a human way'. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/genethicsnews/ Scientists derail US cloning banLobbying by biomedical organisations has
blocked the passage of a US Senate bill that would have banned the production of
human embryos by nuclear transfer. Debate on the bill, sponsored by
Senate majority leader, Trent Lott, and other Republicans, was blocked by a
54-42 vote after filibustering by Democratic Senators, Edward Kennedy and Diane
Feinstein. Senators Feinstein and Kennedy are sponsoring their own
bill, supported by biomedical groups, which allows creation of cloned embryos
for research, but not reproduction.
The run-up to the Senate vote on February
11th was marked by intensive lobbying by scientific organisations, described by
Science magazine as `hardball politics....which would have made the most
seasoned Washington insider proud'. The Federation of American
Societies of Experimental Biology, the American Association of Medical Colleges
and the Biotechnology Industry Organisation all opposed the Republican bill, as
did patient advocacy groups.
The American Society for Cell
Biology distributed a letter signed by 27 Nobel Prize winners arguing against a
ban on cloning to produce embryos for research. The most important use
of such embryos, it was argued, would be the possible creation of
`customised' stem cells for transplantation to a patient. Scientists
were also concerned that the Republican bill, (which in the end was blocked by
the opposition of 12 Republican senators), was an attempt to enact a ban on all
human embryo research. In an internet appeal, the American Society for
Reproductive Medicine urged scientists to `stand up and be counted'
in the name of `freedom of scientific enquiry'.
The Nobelists argued for a voluntary
moratorium, or at most a ban on reproductive cloning. But their
spokesperson, Paul Berg, the father of genetic engineering, did not rule out
reproductive cloning, saying, `People thought that in-vitro fertilisation was
monstrous. So should we foreclose a procedure that in time we may view as one
more reproductive technology?'
Further legislative action on human cloning
in the US will now be delayed for several months. Although the
Republican attempt to `fast-track' a total ban on use of cloning technology has
failed, its sponsors say that they may re-introduce it a later date.
The Vatican recently reiterated its condemnation of human cloning, saying that it `represents a grave attack on the dignity of conception and on the right to an unrepeatable, unpredetermined set of genes'. In its report, the Pontifical Academy on Life said that people should be conceived and born `in a human way'. Forwarded by
