My machine has been doing the high flashing rate occasionly for some time now,
but when start to flash quickly I tap the board lightly, and it goes back to
normal.

I just put it down to a faulty connection somewhere.

The snag is I have to leave the cover off.

After trying every combination possible, I conclude it has to do with
the Qubide.

It is the only common link, yet the hard disk etc is working normally
(although I have to use mouse to drive QPAC2 files menu to check it
because keyboard is unusably fast, try typing DIR and you get
something like DDDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRR)

I've removed the SuperHermes extensions rom and booted from floppy to
test for possible eprom damage, results are exactly the same.

If I disconnect Qubide and boot from floppy, the keyboard works OK.
Cursor flashing rate is OK.

Totally stumped now, don't know what else to try!
