While some of the older QL programs don't work on QXL/SMSQ/QPC, they can run
on software that emulates the original Sinclair QL, like Q-emuLator and
QLay.

With Q-emuLator for Windows I also include a QDOS utility that can be run on
a QL to copy files from microdrive to floppy in a format containing the
pieces of information used by most QL microdrive copy protection schemes. In
this way you can run your QL software on the emulator even if it is copy
protected, provided that you can still read once your original microdrive to
transfer the data to floppy.
