Manipulating the HTML / DOM is usually not a good idea in qooxdoo and we never 
recommend it. So usually, there is another solution. I guess thats what you 
thought too and why you are here, right? :)

For setting the applications background, you can use a decorator and apply this 
decorator to the root element of your application.
