Qt looks for plugins in a path predetermined at build time. I think you can override this behavior with a qt.conf file in the same directory as the .exe file, but I don't know the syntax of this file and you'd have to put that file alongside every .exe generated by Creator as well. (It may be possible to do this by hacking on qt.prf? I'm not sure.)
