Hi James

Funny that, I was just thinking to myself the other day, you never hear people
say that really annoying thing that know-it-alls (who often don’t) on the Apple
Communities etc used to say “you can’t do that, product X wasn’t designed to do
that” much any more.

Now I realise you aren’t quite saying that but you are getting close. The
unplanned for uses that people put software to do is what drives software
development and diversity to some extent.

I use QC in production environments, not the Editor itself anymore (I did at
first but never again it’s too crashy) but the compositions I use, wrapped into
apps thanks to Kineme QC Builder. I use Syphon outputs to get the video to
other production tools.

I’ve used QC comps as custom layers for BonixTV (now v2.0 in beta called
mimoLive and still QC based layers) and several other production applications.
I’ve never written a QC plugin in my life, but would have liked a great many
times but didn’t want to start on the learning curve of Xcode, Cocoa, Obj C.

There’s a very good case for making patch development less onerous for the
new-comer and just because QC started life as one thing (actually before Apple
bought PixelShox Studio) doesn’t mean it should be limited by that brief.

That’s why I was very keen to see Vuo get to it's launch-day. The idea of
simple and fast-executing C-based node writing seemed very good with not much
more to take on coding wise that JS patch in QC.

Best
