Hi Karla, ape has several functions to simulate trees that make use of these formulas (see ?rphylo). However, the formulas you are looking for may not be directly accessible from R, so you need to check the sources of ape. You may also need to use the last testing version of ape since a bug was recently fixed in rphylo():
