FRUIT AND DUMPLINGS   

      1 qt. fresh or frozen fruit (raspberries, blackberries, cherries or other)
      1 c. sugar
      1 1/2 c. water

      Cover and bring to a boil.

      DUMPLINGS:

      2 c. flour
      4 tsp. baking powder
      1 tsp. salt
      2 tbsp. butter
      1 c. milk

      Sift dry ingredients together, cut in butter and add milk stirring only 
to mix enough so it holds together. Drop by spoonfuls into the boiling fruit. 
Cover and boil for 12 minutes. Serve immediately, plain or with cream, whipped 
cream or ice cream. 
      IMPORTANT: Do not uncover while cooking dumplings.
