<---Hi Robert. There are 2 schools of thought about this but many folks use a solid state relay for switching 110v fans. Many folks use a mechanical relay. I suppose it's really up to you on which you prefer to use but either method would handle the job easily. One thing about a relay however. You probably want one with a 12 Vdc coil and you MUST use a quenching diode across the coil to kill any inductive kick.
