I've done this now with no real alarms. I did notice (on a quick test)
that the movement of the song position pointer was quite lagged with the
new QTimer settings so I've dropped them down to 20ms updates on the GUI
(just for my branch) and that makes things look a bit smoother.

Maintaining the branch is a bit of a pain as I insisted on changing the
directory layouts and so SVN gleefully ignores that fact and refuses to
automerge anything. This I will probably have to tackle with some
scripting if it isn't to get too annoying or more likely just do it
occasionally after a main branch release has occurred. At this point I'm
not planning on looking to make RG build mingw from the head revision - I
will keep it as a separate thing and refresh it from the head as and when
as I say.

It is good to see some of the new features in there as well now. I will
continue to fiddle around for a bit and make some MIDI improvements
hopefully and then package up a new release at some point I hope before
Christmas.
