I guess Windows doesn't have the same problems with distributed files not 
being user writable, so no reason to put a separate copy in each user's 
personal space, or something...  Maybe it was just easier.

Do you use Cygwin to manage the SVN stuff, or something else?  I really am a 
fish out of water on any platform other than Linux, which is probably the only 
reason why I still run Linux after all these years of watching it just go from 
bad to worse as a platform for this kind of application.
