One more test:
I added the autotalent-LADSPA module to all 5 slots of an unused audio
track to make the delaying effect stronger. Tracks I recorded with my
MIDI-Keyboard were deleyed by 1/8 note!

So I guess rosegarden calculates somehow the maximum delay of each track
and delays every other track in a way that they are in sync to eliminate
different delays of different tracks.

1.) This doesn't work always. I remember shiftig vocal recordings a bit
after inserting plugins.

2.) This should be compensated and applied as a negative shift for
recorded tracks.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a global setting "max.
latency". If it's set to - say - 20 ms then every track's plugins are
supposed to get things done in this time, summed up. If they need longer
then something bad should happen (red light, distortion) so the user can
set it to a higher value. Every recording should then be shifted back in
time by this "max. latency" to get it in sync.

Any facts or ideas? Maybe 1000 times discussed already?

Best regards
Holger
