Hello All,
Long time, no contribute :-(
Well hopefully this is the start of some more contribution.
I've created a dev wiki page -
http://www.rosegardenmusic.com/wiki/dev:running_under_cygwin . I want to be
able to run Rosegarden under Cygwin on my Windows laptop, using Jack as the
audio and midi provider. Why am I doing this? Well these days I spend most of
my coding life on Windows, so there's a convenience aspect to being able to use
RG on this platform. Also I have an itch I want to scratch about using Jack to
provide all of RG's audio and midi requirements. Providing an alternative to
ALSA (albeit only hidden on linux) might open up the door to Mac users also.
I won't actually commit anything without clearance from the gatekeepers. Maybe
a branch would be appropriate once I actually have something to commit. I
certainly don't intend to implement any deep changes, merely to provide an
alternative MIDI driver and to allow building under Cygwin (I don't anticipate
many problems with the basic build, just a few tweaks if memory serves).
Also, I haven't forgotten the outstanding items around the "linked segments"
concept. Linked segments are sort of a hidden feature in RG at the moment, it
would be nice to get them more promoted and polished.
Cheers all, I hope you are all well :-)
Ian.
