While I was thinking about ranges and markers, it occured to me that range
operations could preserve segments and groups of linked segments better.
I coded up something to do that, and it seems to work OK. I see that some
work on this had already been done for DeleteRangeCommand. I partly built
on that and partly restructured the code.
This is something between a new feature and a fix. I can put it up on a
branch, say range-commands-relink.
