It requires significant restructuring, rethinking, and reworking tons of 
things all over the place.  I started with an exported .ly file and 
started messing around with it to get the kind of result I'm after manually.

Results were very discouraging.  This is going to require dramatically 
more work than I figured.

Rosegarden -> TuxGuitar -> LilyPond looks like a potentially viable 
workflow.  I'm just going to have to keep trying to use off the shelf 
solutions.
