My opinion is that (if there is rest-space into which it can expand), it 
would make all 4 selected eighth-notes into dotted-eighth-notes.  If 
there is no space for it to expand into, it should refuse to make the 
requested change.

Just my opinion, as a user (not a developer).

That being said, I must admit that I do not use the notation editor for 
anything other than taking a quick look at the music notation.

I was trying to show my daughter how to use it, and in doing so, found 
it to be so hard to use (and explain), that I now just use the matrix 
editor.
