There used to be a purple insertion cursor and a blue playback cursor. We combined them into one back when Chris was still active. As I recall, there were still a few open-ended questions where we weren't quite sure how what should behave. Looking at Rosegarden without the patch applied, I see what you're getting at with this idea, and it makes sense to me. Why should playback jump? I can't think of any good reason. It's probably one of those edge cases we didn't resolve very well when we merged the two cursors into one. I'll try the patch when I get caught up on my backlog. -- D.
