Though I don't believe it should cause a problem. I understand the default on that OS is to build 64-bit, so adding the -m64 flag should not cause a problem. It's unnecessary, but should not be a cause for concern.

Don't set SAGE_CHECK unless you know what you are doing.

I wont argue with you there.
