I did read majority of the how to document

don't think I can find the answer there. Understandably that document
is for samba 3.0.x, but I don't see a version of howto for samba 3.3.
I also checked smb.conf file, I don't think it says using vfs object =
acl_xattr in order to use vfs xattr. This maybe obvious if you have
used samba for some time, but probably not obvious for everybody. That
is why I was trying to read the source code to see what I can do. I do
appreciate your help for this.
The source code package includes a (almost) complete documentation. See
there, under docs, the following books:
- Samba3-HOWTO.pdf -- This 965-pages book contains a whole chapter
dedicated to vfs modules: Chapter 23 Stackable VFS modules
- Samba3-ByExample.pdf
The HTML versions of the above are also there, under "htmldocs". This
directory also contains the man pages in HTML format.
The smb.conf man page contains information about the general use of vfs
modules. Most of these also have their own man pages.
Please note that you can download a very good precompiled samba 3.3.0
from here:
http://ftp.sernet.de/pub/samba/experimental/
