The source code package includes a (almost) complete documentation.
See there, under docs, the following books:
- Samba3-HOWTO.pdf -- This 965-pages book contains a whole chapter
dedicated to vfs modules: Chapter 23 Stackable VFS modules
- Samba3-ByExample.pdf
The HTML versions of the above are also there, under "htmldocs". This
directory also contains the man pages in HTML format.
The smb.conf man page contains information about the general use of
vfs modules. Most of these also have their own man pages.
Starting with version 3.3.1, the source code package now contains a man
page for vfs_acl_xattr:
