What happens to its sub-rule : A laghu syllable becomes guru if it is 
followed by an - anusvaaara, visarga, or when it occurs at the end of a paada.

Rule verse:
sa anusvaarashca diirghashca visargiim ca guru bhavet |
varNaH sa.myoga puurvashca tathaa paada antago.api vaa || 

Then all are visarga-s in suuryaH prabhavaH vamshaH...  

There are many varieties in the metres for shloka-s, also called 
anuSTubh. What you have refered is commonest for ordinary shloka or 
anuSTubh.

A variation verse for shoka lakshaNa is:

shloke SaSTam guru j~neyam sarvatra laghu pa~ncamam |
dvi catuH paadayoH hrasvam saptamam diirgham anyayoH ||
It is OK, but have you keyed in long 'e' and long 'o' in Itranslator, or 
checked this with any printed material - non-regional prints - of 
Sanskrit books. 

With the same problem, the online chat/email programs pro- 
Sanskrti keyboards are lacking E, or O. With the result, if we want to 
aks - EmiTi cestunnaavu, it will be typed as -emiTi cestunaavau, where 
this short emiTi [meaning what,] is very odd in Telugu. 

So pl crosscheck what I said about the lack of O, E in Sanskrit with other sources 
also,
and then conclude on this.

Line No.2 – g g g g L g L g 

Here te (the 6th letter) is guru.

pravR^ittaM taM vAdaM = the conversation that happened

dR^idham = firmly

avadhR^itaM = got 

me HR^idi = in my mind

haThAt = forcecully 

mukhAt = from my mouth

adyodantaM = arising today

raghukulamaNe = Rama

shR^iNu = listen

avahitaH = patiently

 

(The conversation had 50 shlokas. With Sita’s clever replies

they have been converted to 50 meaningful shlokas by

proper deletion, addition or replacement.  I have go all of them

in my heart.  Please listen to what is coming out of my mouth 

OH! Rama.)

While Dr Rao may express his own views, here are some suggestions. Pardon
the verbosity and if they sound pedantic but that cannot be avoided in
technical terminology!

1. Sanskrit Mailing List
 saMsk^Rita lekhyavAhana Avali or salekhAvali for short.

2. Sanskrit Discussion Group
saMsk^Rita paryAlocana sa^Ngha or saMparisa^Ngha for short
or
devavANI carcA tantra (Sanskrit discussion thread) which may sound colourful
and auspicious.

While looking for abbreviations I am reminded of the famous anecdote on
Kalidasa (where he explains 'ushadar' colourfully). Perhaps Vis knows the
complete story!
