Hi List Readers, Showing up with a question to the list is a poor way to say hello to a lot of people for the first time, but here we go. Hello everyone!
I'm looking for a few easy traditional tunes for playing at a Scottish Country Dance on Friday. I've got lots of stuff as ABC and MP3. But I cannot tell from looking which part of Britain they're from. Once this group is used to us, I'm sure we can use any melody, American, Irish, Scottish for dancing. But we're just giving it a try at the end of the dance, just before we quit dancing (until the new year). Mairi's Wedding: is that Scottish? What about Petronella? I probably have these melodies already. I just cannot tell which would be appropriate. Also, easy to learn would be nice -- we the musicians will be just trying to give this out, and learning what to expect from the dancers, the teacher, and more. We won't get any time to practice. We'll just wing it, and see how the everyone responds to this. So thanks - I've got a few days to put this together.
