Putting more "tech" in "discotheque," Hewlett Packard is hard at work on the world's first artificially intelligent disc jockey. It's a program that not only mixes tracks, it also "feels out" the crowd (via remote sensors) to gauge what clubbers are hot to hear. HP's AI DJ isn't ready to groove for the masses just yet, but a test version in London got rave reviews (from HP). The company claims two out of five dancers couldn't tell the difference between the artificial DJ and its human counterpart, although you've gotta think the HP DJ would be the one playing more techno.
