BATCH FTP COMMANDS | Tip: search400

When using the STRTCPFTP command in a CL program, use the
source type CLP, not CLLE if you want it to compile. This
writer states, "We're on V4R4 and even if the command is
allowed in batch, it won't compile. This was not in the
documentation -- even on the IBM Web site -- so it was quite
frustrating to figure it out."

MESSAGE LINE ON A DISPLAY FILE | Advice: search400

One member states, "I have a display file with a WINDOW format
over a non-window format. The problem is that the error
messages for the WINDOW format are going on line 24 of the
non-window format instead of in the WINDOW format." Do you
have any ideas on how to fix this?

THE MISSING LINK | AI is a DJ

It's a shame Studio 54 isn't around to see this. Putting more
"tech" in "discotheque," Hewlett Packard is hard at work on
the world's first artificially intelligent disc jockey. It's a
program that not only mixes tracks, it also "feels out" the
crowd (via remote sensors) to gauge what clubbers are hot to
hear. HP's AI DJ isn't ready to groove for the masses just
yet, but a test version in London got rave reviews (from HP).
The company claims two out of five dancers couldn't tell the
difference between the artificial DJ and its human
counterpart, although you've gotta think the HP DJ would be
the one playing more techno.
