[kmail2] [Bug 484327] Bad initial window sizes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484327 --- Comment #1 from Kevin Krammer --- New observation: main window and composer seem to access the same size information. I just realized that the observed 760x830 mentioned in the report are the size of my non-maximized composer window. To verify I resized the composer to some new shape and then quit Kmail after closing the composer. On restart Kmail came up with that new geometry. If I do not un-maximize the composer and quit Kmail then it restarts in maximized state. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[kmail2] [Bug 484328] New: Kmail config dialog takes about 40 seconds to show up
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484328 Bug ID: 484328 Summary: Kmail config dialog takes about 40 seconds to show up Classification: Applications Product: kmail2 Version: 6.0.1 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: config dialog Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: kram...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 167655 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=167655=edit Kmail log entries from journald SUMMARY Since upgrade to 6.0 opening the Kmail config dialog for the first time after startup takes 30-40 seconds, with CPU load spiking. Most likely related to querying font information because it spams the log with OpenType messages (see attachment). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start Kmail 2. Settings -> Configure Kmail 3. OBSERVED RESULT 30-40 seconds of high CPU load before dialog shows up. log (via journalctl) gets hundreds of entries related to OpenType EXPECTED RESULT Config dialog shows up in a couple of seconds. [kmail2] [Bug 484327] New: Bad initial window sizes
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=484327 Bug ID: 484327 Summary: Bad initial window sizes Classification: Applications Product: kmail2 Version: 6.0.1 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: kram...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY After upgrading to 6.0 the initial size of the Kmail main window, the composer window and the attachment selection window are not what I would expect them to be. When I start Kmail after logging in, it appears in a rather small window, about 760x830. I had it maximized before ending the session and I can reproduce this even when just quitting Kmail and restarting it. So I have to maximize it after every start. Once maximized, it will open composer windows also maximized (it does not do that before it got maximized itself) After manually unmaximizing the composer window (and closing it either by canceling or sending) any new composer is created in non-maximized form for a while (have not been able to determine yet when it resets to maximized). In almost ironic opposition, the dialog for selecting attachments is always opened with minimal size (screenshot attached). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start Kmail 2. Open composer (new mail or reply, shortcut or toolbar) OBSERVED RESULT Kmail main window does not restore its maximized state. Composer window seems to follow the main windows maximized state. Attachment dialog is too small. EXPECTED RESULT Kmail main window is restored to the size it had when closing. Composer opens in the size it had last. Attachment dialog can be used right away without needing to be resized to actually see files. [Akonadi] [Bug 482891] New: Kolab resource gone after upgrade to 6.0.0 mega release and not migrated to IMAP either
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482891 Bug ID: 482891 Summary: Kolab resource gone after upgrade to 6.0.0 mega release and not migrated to IMAP either Classification: Frameworks and Libraries Product: Akonadi Version: 6.0.0 Platform: Neon OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Kolab Resource Assignee: kdepim-bugs@kde.org Reporter: kram...@kde.org CC: c...@carlschwan.eu Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY I've upgraded KDE Neon last weekend and most things went very smoothly. It seems this release does no longer contain akonadi_kolab_resource but neither is its config migrated to an IMAP resource. Had to manually create an IMAP account which lost all folder customizations (e.g. "contains mailinglist", "use specific identity, etc). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Upgrade to KDE PIM 6.0.0 from 5.x version 2. Start KMail OBSERVED RESULT Entry for Kolab account is marked as "offline". Log has many entries of akonadiserver not being able to contact the resource /usr/bin/akonadi_kolab_resource does not exist EXPECTED RESULT Either akonadi_kolab_resource to run and handle its config or IMAP resource being in its place. Ideally with the same collections. In the worst case some info that the user has to re-create an IMAP "incoming" configuration manually. [Akonadi] [Bug 325699] Akonadi stores absolute path to maildir resource maildir in database, making it difficult to create a test setup
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=325699 --- Comment #6 from Kevin Krammer kram...@kde.org --- The configuration I am concerned about is $HOME and $XDG_DATA_HOME overlapping but $XDG_DATA_HOME being set. If $XDG_DATA_HOME is $HOME/data, then the default locations for a couple of resources would be in $HOME/data, e.g. $HOME/data/local-mails. On that system/account using data/local-mail relative based on $HOME would be OK, but is that what the user would assume? Or would the user assume that the relative paths are based on $XDG_DATA_HOME? I guess the RID of the top level collection would not only need a relative path but also information what it is relative to. Like KConfigGroup replacing the homedir path with $HOME. The question is what is the most expected behavior if the path is relative to a sub variable. I.e. the default maildir resource points to $HOME/.local/share/local-mail but that in fact is $XDG_DATA_HOME/local-mail and $XDG_DATA_HOME defaults to $HOME/.local/share if unset. what should we use as a base then? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275561 --- Comment #5 from Kevin Krammer kevin krammer gmx at 2011-06-15 09:04:47 --- KMail Folders is a special handler for KMail's potentially mixed mail tree, i.e. supporting folders in either maildir or mbox format. The backtrace indicates that there was a problem when dealing with one of the mbox folders. This folder has either been created as mbox by choice (KMail allowed to choose the format when creating a new folder) or very old (mbox used to be the default format way back in the old days). If your POP3 inbox folder is a top level folder under KMail folders you can find either a file or a directory with its name in the KMail mail path (e.g. .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail or $HOME/Mail, etc) If it is a file, the type is mbox, a directory means maildir -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

Let's see if this solves the crashes. Very likely, this is a totally different implementation due to not having to support mbox subfolders. Alternatively creating a new subfolder in KMail Folders will also result in a maildir folder, so doing that for the POP3 inbox folder should also help (since it is the one getting messages added and removed a lot) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275561 --- Comment #3 from Kevin Krammer kevin krammer gmx at 2011-06-14 21:47:31 --- (In reply to comment #2) Maybe the problem is related to filtering. I have several filters that sort POP mails into folders. Could you provide some information about the involved folders? Which one is the MBox? The one which gets the mail from POP at download or the one which is the filter target? It seems to me that the crash happens while the messages are being copied. The crash happens when moving message data in the mbox file due to compacting it after some message(s) got deleted. So my guess is that is the folder which the mail got downloaded to orginally before it gets moved (i.e. the POP3 inbox). As to the setup change: I'd like to avoid that if possible. Sure, I just wanted to be sure you know the options. Depending on your setup, if the POP3 target folder is really the mbox in this crash, I would actually recommend to make that a maildir. MBox is by its single file nature very bad for deleting messages. The program working with the mbox (in this case the resource) needs to remember the deletion somewhere else and at some point create a new mbox file with all messages but the delete ones. In the worst case (first message being deleted) this requires the whole mbox file to be processed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=239996 --- Comment #3 from Kevin Krammer kevin krammer gmx at 2011-05-15 12:44:33 --- I've tried to reproduce this with the executable shipped on Debian and the one I built from master. Also tried running the excutable from Debian (KDEPIM 4.4.10 I think) with newer KDE. All tests so far worked. Since both backtraces indicate a problem when writing the results to output, it is probably dependent on some data in one of your address book entries. Maybe one of you has time to try finding the problematic entry using kabcclient -S name This is almost certainly related to the encoding problem, so it is most likely an entry with any field containing non ASCII characters. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs

[Bug 199137] PLEASE keep Kontact up to date with the existing KDE version!
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199137 Kevin Krammer kevin.kram...@gmx.at changed: What|Removed |Added CC||kevin.kram...@gmx.at --- Comment #5 from Kevin Krammer kevin krammer gmx at 2009-07-18 13:52:26 --- Adding a bit more context. Kontact and the other KDE PIM applications are released together with other KDE applications whenever there is a KDE release. So your wish item could have also been closed as RESOLVED FIXED because it has already been that way. If a distribution update somehow managed to remove Kontact or install an incompatible version, it could have been a problem with the packages or with the package manager. In both these cases something the distributor has to look into. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.kde.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Kdepim-bugs mailing list Kdepim-bugs@kde.org https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kdepim-bugs
