[Bug 941412] Re: Human theme does not apply in some apps (e.g. gedit, nautilus)

2012-03-05 Thread Joost Van Durme
Well with the new MyUnity tweak tool, it is now possible to change themes in
Ubuntu (not talking about xubuntu) on the fly. And it will seem weird to people
that many themes just don't work because they can't handle gtk3.
But if you can port human-theme to gtk3, I will be forever grateful. ;-)
I just love this theme as it's near perfect for usability and heavy desktop
work.
I guess there are no tutorials about porting a theme from gtk2 to gtk3?

1. Clean install oneiric
2. sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
3. reboot and testing Fn+F3 and the behaviour is

mirror mode - mirror mode - internal only - external only

4. sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ayan/gnome-settings-daemon
5. sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

3 packages update: gnome-desktop3-data gnome-settings-daemon
libgnome-desktop-3-2
the version is 3.2.1-0ubuntu1.3~ayan1

6. reboot and testing Fn+F3 and the behaviour is

when hit Fn+F3, the unity dash appear or disappear always, and

[Bug 794415] Re: Seg fault on launch

2012-03-05 Thread Ryan
Hi,

I managed to find a workaround to this for those that need it. You can
edit your XkbLayout in the following file: /etc/default/keyboard

$ gksudo gedit /etc/default/keyboard

Then change XKBLAYOUT=za to XKBLAYOUT=us. After this you will need
to reboot and Remmina should start.

[Bug 733374] Re: X freeze, nvidia-current, Ubuntu 11.04 Maverick GeForce 9600GT

2012-03-05 Thread hirumono
Hi,
I think X freezes with nVidia cards on multiple-core systems have been a major
pain for Linux users for a long time. My troubles began in 2008 on Ubuntu
Gutsy Gibbon, when I upgraded my system to a dual-core Athlon64 X2. At the
moment I'm living (not too happily) with an ATi 3450 HD, which behaves horribly
in Compiz but, at least, doesn't freeze my system. Guess you don't make a great
bargain when you migrate to Linux for stability and you find out that a video
driver makes it even worse than in Windows! ;)
Back then, I reported the bug here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-
modules-2.6.24/+bug/151382

As I said there, I believe my problems stemmed from dual-core kernel CPU
switching, coupled with nVidia drivers trying to distribute GPU load
over multiple CPUs. In post #21 I reported that looking around over the
net, I had found a way to reduce (not eliminate, though) the problem,
thanks to this command:

echo 1 /sys/devices/system/cpu/sched_mc_power_savings

(you must be super-user to issue it)

It would be interesting to see if it can help with today's kernels, too.
I have no more my old nVidia card, but if someone wants to try it,
there's the more correct way that Martin Zuther suggested in reply to my
post:

There is however an easier way to achieve it - just start your system,
open the terminal and type:

echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/sched_mc_power_savings

You can verify that it works with cat
/sys/devices/system/cpu/sched_mc_power_savings

Hope it helps find the reason of this sneaky bug!

[Bug 673350] Re: Can't install emacs23

2012-03-05 Thread superxor
I am running Ubuntu 11.10 i386. I had faced the same problem when I had
accidentally deleted /etc/emacs/site-start.d/00debian-vars.el. I tried
installing emacs23 instead of emacs-snapshot, but it dint work. I tried
installing dictionary-el package as @liuxhang1201 suggested, but even that dint
work.

I took a copy of the 00debian-vars.el file from my friend's system (running the
same OS) and copied it to /etc/emacs/site-start.d and then tried installing
emacs-snapshot, everything works fine now.

I am attaching the 00debian-vars.el file just in case somebody needs it.

[Bug 946951] [NEW] Ubiquity installer: import account window not sized correctly

2012-03-05 Thread Ghislain Vaillant
Public bug reported:

Using Precise beta1 Live-CD installation media. At the import step, the
window listing the possible imports, like Windows and Linux Firefox
bookmarks, is not appropriately sized (height of just 1 line). I can
scroll down to all the choices, but the very tiny window makes it very
uncomfortable. This feature was working fine for me when using the
Oneiric live-CD installation media. My machine is a Dell Latitude E6400.

Re: [Bug 946737] Re: Broken logic in /etc/init/libvirt-cgred-wait.conf

2012-03-05 Thread Loïc Minier
On Mon, Mar 05, 2012, Serge Hallyn wrote:

 Yes, I'm on precise

Note that really libcgroup and libvirt do not work together anyway, due
to a race at startup. We recommend cgroup-lite (which is in main) be
 used in its place.

But libvirt starting after upgrades, when you have start_libvirt=no, is
 puzzling.

Right now the daemon is running, but the main issue is that the upgrade
itself is stuck at starting libvirt-bin when the package's postinst
run, and I don't understand why.

I'll switch to cgroup-lite and see if that helps, still worth merging
the proposed shell syntax fix if that's ok with you -- but I'm happy to
upload it if you +1 it

[Bug 946152] Re: No agents were available for the request

The same happends to me for WiFi connections.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 but still using the /home directory from 11.04 and
reseted the gnome / unity settings.
The old WiFi connections were transfered anyway (maybe at the fist start) and
the described problem apears if I try to edit the old connections that have
encryptions enabled.
I find the connections unter /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ but
without the password and the password is also not included in the keyring.

[Bug 946943] [NEW] idn: info page is a copy of man page

2012-03-05 Thread era
Public bug reported:

This has been a long-standing bug with many package which have
documentation in Info format. The manual page directs you to info, but
info provides a copy of the same manual page, rather than the full

I'm not sure what the correct resolution should be. I know that the

somehow. Perhaps the longer-term solution would involve fixing the info
package somehow.

[Bug 946953] [NEW] 'Permission denied' when using a windows share

2012-03-05 Thread Julien Cornuwel
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I'm having trouble telling deja-dup to send backups to a windows share.
First, there is no 'share' field like there is in Nautilus. I tried
share/path and /share/path with the same result : deja-dup doesn't ask for
a password and immediately says 'Permission Denied'.
I then tried 'custom location', giving it a URI like
smb://domain;user@server/share/path. Same result.

There is no problem with the windows share as it mounts perfectly in
Nautilus.

Any idea ?

[Bug 946886] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit/C/GTK 3 menu crash

2012-03-05 Thread anewguy
I was requested to associate a package with this. Since it's an
application I am writing that uses GTK3, and the problem seems to be
internal to GTK3 handling of a menu item, I must therefore assume it
must be in libgtk-3-dev since it provides the headers, functions, etc.,
for GTK developers.

[Bug 946704] Re: nautilus crash on copy from remote ssh server

2012-03-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 945927] Re: ld incorrectly gives 'undefined reference'

2012-03-05 Thread CF
Pardon?

I DID put the c file before any library, as I have clearly written in my
bug report.

I cannot see how any of the comments in the release notes or changed
link tool chain relate to my problem: I am putting an explicit -lm in
the command line, and then the linker opens that library, and it sees
the right symbols, and yet, it does not link libm, probably because
also libfoo would have used it, too, but since libfoo isn't been linked,
libm is apparently kicked out. Sorry, this is a misbehavior.

Please reconsider this issue! It breaks the AC_CHECK_LIB macro of
autoconf, as well as complex make environments where the use of certain
libraries in specific executables is difficult to predict in advance.

[Bug 551090] Re: drag and drop bookmark functionality broken

2012-03-05 Thread None ofyour business
Firefox 10.0.2 and Ubuntu 10.10 user.

Same issue - every once in awhile the bookmarks will not allow drag
and drop.

I just discovered that (on my system at least) the bug can be initiated by
visiting Pandora radio for some reason.
Perhaps it's something to do with Flash player?

3 times I reproduced same results: drag and drop works fine and then the
instant you visit Pandora it suddenly stops working.

It's one of those bugs that crops up seemingly randomly - so perhaps being
able to reproduce it on demand can help nail down what's causing it... I hope
it helps anyway

[Bug 682788] Re: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens

2012-03-05 Thread Rover
I agree that LIM is not a solution. As for me, I do not like the idea of
LIM at all. Though, it may be an option, of course, for those who find
it useful. But I do like global menu for maximized windows. And I would
like to have a normal menu for non-maximized windows. So the initial
suggestion for the three options (on - off - only maximized) seems to be
the most comfortable and flexible solution.

[Bug 820383] Re: ttf-mscorefonts-installer must not take care of apt-proxy when download fonts from http

2012-03-05 Thread Will Rouesnel
The problem is that if you're using an apt specific proxy (like apt-
cacher-ng) then you'll have your apt configured with an http proxy (i.e.
192.168.1.1:3142), then it will reject general non-apt requests (like a
request for an exe file download, as the installer does).

This means that the ttf-mscorefonts-installer fails to actually download
any fonts, even though internet connectivity is fine. There doesn't seem
to be a way to disable the proxy logic (a button you can check on the
EULA page would help a lot).

[Bug 946957] [NEW] Migration from oneiric to precise beta1removes touchpad support on MacBookPro

2012-03-05 Thread Bruno Beaufils
Public bug reported:

When upgrading from oneiric to precise beta1 the support of touchpad
vanished.

I had to reinstall xserver-xorg-input-synaptics to get it back working
(do-release-upgrade removes it).

The text in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrecisePangolin/TechnicalOverview/Beta1 states
that ClickPads are recognized out of the box (at least on MacBook ones)
which is not the case since I had to reinstall this package.

[Bug 946965] [NEW] alt+tab makes unity crashed (with gdb logs)

2012-03-05 Thread tim chen
Public bug reported:

Expected results:
alt+tab hot-key successfully switch the application to foreground for me.

Actual results:
Sometimes it crashed the window system, and most time it works

Reproduce:
1. login
2. open gnome-terminal via unity panel
3. open chromium-browser via unity panel
4. press alt + tab

(sometimes it will crash, if not, re-do it again.)

I attached gdb log in the bug, it seems the error happened at
unity::switcher::SwitcherController::CompareSwitcherItemsPriority,
I've tried print the value when specific the frame #2 in gdb,
print first-Type() will return me an actual ApplicationType
but print second-Type() will cause me a segmentation fault.
I'm running on the 4.28.0-0ubuntu2 unity so I think this issue is new.

[Bug 933115] Re: evince doesn't open PDFs when using right-click Open nor Open with...

2012-03-05 Thread Dash Runner
I am no longer working in this installation of Ubuntu that had the bug.
It was reported as a factual bug in that I could find no reason why
PDFs, connected by extension to open in Evince, were not being opened
unless I started Evince and opened them with File:Open.I tried
disassociating re-associating PDF extensions to Evince without any
success for point-and-click opening in the Ubuntu 11.04 derivative it
appeared in, which had by default hidden the Evince menu link. Let's
hope derivatives of Ubuntu 12.04 are free of this bug.

[Bug 946972] [NEW] xul-ext-lightning pulls in Seamonkey despite Thunderbird being installed

2012-03-05 Thread Ghislain Vaillant

Second key-binding change is:

  bzr diff -r 1737.8.2..1737.8.3

which introduces a bit of helper code too, including a 50 ms hard-coded
timeout. However, the whole things seems to hinge upon:

  optionGetShowHud().key().toString() == action-key().toString()

which doesn't seem to be capable of expressing the requirement Press
and release of Alt with no other keys touched (pressed, or released) in
the meantime.
