Thanks David, Sorry when i said i was trying a sample im not actually following a tutorial, because couldnt find any. Im using eclipse and have the avd set up and working with the hello world aplication. But when i import JJIL as a JAR file into the project, it pulls in all the classes and everything. But when i try to reference them in other classes or in code, it says it cannot find them and cant see where they exist... Do you have any exirence in using JJIL? Or know of anywhere i can find a working sample using it that would make me feel a bit more motivated? It is called spam and the moderators don't approve every post. which version of the Android SDK you using? the jar file is quite old so i presume it only works pre Android 1.5? Thats exactly what i was afraid of actually, the version of the sdk i am using is 2.1. Altought i was told previously that it seems to work with 2.0 fine. Solved. The problem was that I did not have permission ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE. I found this out by executing getAllNetworkInfo in a try block and reading the error message in catch{Exception e}. They are names for the differnt versions. Cupcake=v1.5 My phone, for example, ues 1.5 so I am developing with SDK 1.5. They are not bound to different versions of linux, however, android is run on a subset called dalvik, and if you download the source, it has beed tested to build in ubunto. Hi, I'm writing a small app which will track a Target location. I know target location's longitude,latitude,bearing. Now I'll hold my android phone and spin around slowly. My aim is to locate the Target location using Sensor/Location Manager. Whenever my android device is aligned in the direction of target a Toast will open up Your target location is in this direction. Is there anyone(besides myself in this entire world) who is using WINDOWS 7, professional version, that develops Android apps within that enviorment?? [android-beginners] Adhoc net connection over Wi-Fi
Hi, I am trying to browse the net over Wi-Fi on my android developer phone. I have created an Ad-hoc connection on my Mac and want to connect the phone to this using Wi-Fi. The setup is working perfectly when I connect my iPod Touch to the Mac. However in the case of the ADP, I am unable to browse the net. It keeps giving the message There was a network error. I am able to connect the ADP to the network and it shows connected with an excellent signal strength. It even acquires an IP automatically from the Mac. I have tried with both the Open as well as WEP encrypted network. However I am unable to browse or even access my Gmail account. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. This doesn't seem to be working properly. What I am trying to do is pass a class through onActivityResult() using a Bundle I have put in the associated Intent. To this end, I have made my class implement Parcelable with all the associated methods and CREATOR. The parcel is written when, eventually, the following method is called public void writeToParcel(Parcel dest, int flags) { Log.d(TAG,writing to parcel...); dest.writeInt(value); dest.writeStringArray(options); dest.writeIntArray(conversions); dest.writeInt(system); } ...and read back out later with private void readFromParcel(Parcel in) { Log.d(TAG,reading from parcel...); in.setDataPosition(0); value = in.readInt(); options = in.createStringArray(); conversions = in.createIntArray(); system = (short) in.readInt(); } My problem is that when creating the options String Array, I get the error below. When I remove the lines that write and create the String array everything works fine. As you can see, I'm being told that an array size is too large. The array has THREE elements. Has anyone had experience with this?
