we need to brows some web pages in online and offline. We are using webview 
to render web pages. Also there is need to show same pages in offline when 
there is no internet connectivity. Is there any way to do so? Please 
help

Well Google should take he risk. Don't allow manufacturer to alter it's 
base android. You said that most OEM won't use Android. What would they do? 

Everyone knows what happened to Symbian (Nokia), Bada (Samung), Blackberry. 
Android is in demand. And no one can replace it at least not in another 10 
years. 

I don't know about "Marketing" thing. But I know what happened to other OS. 
What are your opinions about it?

Without measuring each item how would a list with items that vary in height 
have a smooth scroll bar? It seems that if setSmoothScrollBar is set to 
false then the scrollbar indicator/thumb jumps from item to item, if set to 
true then the scrollbar indicator changes size to match each item. Neither 
is an expected behavior from a scrollbar. What is the best way to 
accomplish this? It seems less than ideal to measure each item.

I see that AbsListView 

 uses 
the list size * 100 for the scrollRange and then does some calculations for 
each item for the scrollExtent but this doesn't appear to work well with a 
recyclerView, the numbers don't seem to ever quite work and I'm not sure 
why 100 is being used.

The difference, I believe, is more in the maturity of the hardware.

In the PC/laptop world, there is already a lot of standards on relation on
how the hardware interfaces are made. Most devices are mostly the same, or
at least "have to" respond to the same interfaces, so their drivers are the
only thing that need to be added. And Windows in phones is sold only in a
few devices; the relation is more similar to iPhone/iOs that to what
Android's market is and it's not comparable.

The only way Google could imitate that is if they don't allow the OEMs and
Carriers to change anything on the versions of Android they ship their
devices with.

If they could try to enforce that, most OEMs would decide not to use
Android, because they WANT to make things different visually, and because
they NEED to optimise stuff on relation with their hardware.

The solution Google found is to put more and more functionality into the
Google Play Services app and other independent apps. That way sometimes
they can force changes on most devices. That's the closest they can get to
an "OTA" update without alienating the OEMs.

[android-developers] Publishing an application under two developer accounts

I have just finished developing an Android application with a partner using 
LibGDX. We now look to publish it, but are stuck deciding how to go about 
this publishing with our collaboration and limited resources. We both have 
paid Google Developer accounts. Is there a way to publish the application 
under both accounts? We don't want to go with adding the other partner to 
one of the accounts as a User as then the host account's Developer Name 
would have to be our organization name, and it couldn't be used in the 
future for individual projects. Or is this actually possible, can one of 
the accounts publish the app under the organization name and then change 
the name later for publishing an individual app? What are our options for 
this dilemma?

[android-developers] Use Webview for code reuse or rewrite to leverage Mapview

make the same functionality available in an Android app.  We are using 
Nativescript to develop our app.  I was wondering it I should use webview 
to reuse the logic we already working in the browser application or rewrite 
it to use the native android map view component?

[android-developers] Android Studio Firebase Plugin-Login issue

While connecting to Firebase using the studio plugin, I logged into a 
different firebase account.
Everytime, I try adding a Firebase component to my app, the connection 
fails as it tries to find the firebase project in the account I incorrectly 
logged in. 
Is there a way to logout and relogin to Firebase from the Android Studio 
plugin?

I'm writing this on behalf of my developers. We are currently building a 
HTML5 VR experiences in a China developed app. 
We facing difficulty in adding dynamic text and images above a 360 Video 
especially loading it on WeChat. 

We haven't have any issue with iOS but I hope there is a solution for 
Android.

[android-developers] How can I use ethernet over USB (cdc_ether, usbnet, rndis host) on Android Things?

Hi,

I am trying to use an ethernet over USB dongle with my Android Things 
device. Normally on other Linux OSs, like Ubuntu, cdc_ether/usbnet are a 
part of the kernel and when I plug the dongle in a USB port, it gets 
instantly recognized as a network interface. However, on Android Things 
that is not the case. So far I haven't been able to figure out a way to 
activate this functionality. There are directories on Android Things 
suggesting that it should be possible *(/sys/module/usb_f_rndis* and 
*/sys/bus/usb/drivers/cdc_ether*).

Is it currently possible to make this work without recompiling the kernel? 
If so, could somebody advise me on how to do that, please? I am quite new 
to Android Things and Android in general so if I just missed something 
obvious, let me know.

1) Android release updates.
2) Manufacturer alter those updates. (Of course Android removed hardware
level in Android 8)

Why can't Google release all updates via OTA just like Microsoft do for its
PC and Mobile systems?

Android is very mature by now. Billions of users are using it but it
doesn't have OTA update feature.

Android requirement is less than 1 GB. But our 4GB handset gets old in one
or two year. Because Manufacturer doesn't release New android version on
old devices.

Can't Google solve this problem?

In-app Billing for hybrid app.

Hi, I'm projecting a hybrid app using cordova. My app will offer a monthly
subscription to change the user plan(default or premium account).
So, as I'm making a hybrid app, I'm programming in web language(HTML, JS,
PHP,...).
But, according the Google's policy center, I have to use the Google Play
in-app billing as the method of payment.
How can I integrate the Google play in-app billing system if it only has
support for JAVA(I would have to use Android Studio, but I won't use it,
because I'm making a hybrid app using the Intel xdk)?
