Source - http://tickledbylif e.com/index. php/ar-rahman-
and-multiple- order-thinking/

I practice a kind of thinking called multiple order thinking. This means that I
try to go beyond the obvious and the apparent. At first I try and get into the
second order thinking where one can grasp what lies beneath. In the third order
I try to get at the underlying concepts of deeper significance to others – at
community, nation or universal level.

Take AR Rehman's statement at the Oscar ceremony and at Chennai on his
arrival. I reproduce here what he said at Chennai:

It's a starting point in my career and will indeed make a difference in fans'
approach towards good music.

My award's message was said clearly in my acceptance speech. In my life, I
always had a choice between love and hate and I chose love. That is my
philosophy in life and in music.

I chose to live a life overriding differences between people, states, language
and religion. My fans should do the same.

As fans congregated outside his home in the south western suburb of
Kodambakkam, Rahman was keen to ensure that neighbours were not disturbed in
the dead of night.

It is clear that Rehman thinks deeply and has a message for all of us. His
message carries authenticity because he is known to practice what he preaches.
Thus his modesty is touching when he said It's a starting point in my career.

This is all the more surprising in the context of Bollywood where giant size
egos are the norm. His decision to choose love over hate is directed at all
those who choose the opposite –these people are too well known to bear
enumeration here. Rehman show us all the way to managing multiple identities -
Tamilian, bollywood/tollywood star, muslim, Indian, international - all wrapped
in one seamless fashion. His music can switch from Carnatic to Sufi to Lebanese
to Salsa – all in one song! He himself can switch from talking about Allah to
speaking about Iraiavan—the Tamil Hindu word for God. In the face of some
consternation among orthodox muslims, Rehman sang –with added gusto I thought –
Vande Matram..

Not many may have noticed that he has introduced maybe a hundred new young
singers to the Tamil and Hindi screens – his faith in the youth of India is
evident in his statement that he would like youngsters to take a different view
of music after his winning the Oscar.

His request that his fans ought not to disturb his neighbours in the dead of
night attracts attention to a long forgotten quality in India—consideration for
others.

As for Resool Pookutty what he said has gone less noticed maybe because sound
mixing is too esoteric for the layman. He said that he considered his Oscar
award as God's gift on the occasion of Shivratri. He made another profound
statement – there was one `sound' before which there was no sound and after
which also there will be no sound. He was referring to the Hindu concept of the
cosmic sound OM. The significance of these statements lies in what to me is a
rare instance of a Hindu not being shy of his Hindu identity in public. In our
perverted understanding of secularism it had become unfashionable for a Hindu
to be so in public. I am an atheist by the way.

Both these achievers together convey anther message to all of us especially
the young—humble origins need not prevent you from aspiring for and achieving
great success.

How do these guys covey their message?

Dil se.

[arr] Rahman is one of the world’s greatest livin g composers in any medium- Ron Fair

2009-03-10 Thread Bivin Chandra
MUCH before AR Rahman won his Oscars for his music in the multiple Oscar
winning movie Slumdog Millionaire, Ron Fair, chairman of Universal Music
Group’s Interscope Geffen Records, decided to release an English-language pop
version of Jai Ho!
“I watched the movie a year ago for the first time (and watched it two more
times since then) and immediately I realised the potential of Rahman’s music
and its universal appeal,” Fair told Financial Chronicle. The remix version,
titled Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny), with a rough English translation of the
Hindi lyrics, is sung by Nicole Scherzinger, the lead vocalist of the American
pop group Pussycat Dolls. Fair’s connection with Rahman was established through
Jimmy Iovine, music producer, entrepreneur and chairman of
Interscope-Geffen-AM. In fact, hip-hop star M.I.A. (a Sri Lankan Tamilian born
Mathangi Arulpragasam in Britain) is an artist with Interscope and was
nominated for an Oscar along with Rahman for the song O Saya in Slumdog
Millionaire.
According to Fair, the producer of the remix, he was ready to have the release
immediately after the Oscars whether or not the original won at the ceremony.
True to his promise, the day after the Oscars, the remix version was released
by the Santa Monica-based record label and Fair is hoping Rahman can conquer
the US pop-music charts.
“In fact, the remix number is already among the Top 20 pop songs in iTunes,”
said Fair. The remix was created with artists working in three different
continents. “When recording began, Rahman was in Los Angeles twice with my team
of song writers and he gave significant direction to the project. After that he
helped us directly from his studio in Chennai,” said Fair. Meanwhile,
Scherzinger, who was then touring England, recorded her vocal parts in various
studios in England.
With the song’s original electronic dance beats and uplifting percussion in
place, the remix English version’s chorus goes like this: “You are the reason
that I breathe/ You are the reason that I still believe/ You are my destiny/
Jai ho!”
According to Fair, the challenge in creating a remix version was to make
something that would appeal to contemporary music fans but at the same time be
true to the story of the film.
“He is incredibly talented. He has great imagination, new vocabulary and an
absolutely wonderful sense of sound. In fact, he has everything as a musician,”
said Fair about Rahman and his music. “I hope my version of Jai Ho touches and
connects people all around the world,” said Scherzinger in a statement. With
multiple wins by Slumdog Millionaire at the Oscars and with an English remix
version already doing well on US pop charts, there is a buzz about how the
little movie that did wonders at all international awards might build a bridge
between Hollywood and Bollywood. “Indian music has the potential to be a major
force in the world. And there is a whole new world opening up there. “What
Slumdog has done is exposing the Indian music talent to the world. And the
world has seen what India has in terms of dance and music,” said Fair, who
considers Rahman as one of the world’s greatest living composers in any medium.
Fair will travel to India
soon to meet Rahman and discuss with him the possibility of working together
in some international music albums. “I will be visiting India for the first
time and I am sure, I will have to visit the country several times to
understand and learn. But I am eager to go through that learning process,” said
Fair. During his India visit, he is also scheduled to meet several other
producers and representatives of music labels. He has already initiated
discussions with Rajeeta Hemwani, vice president, AR (artists and repertoire),
Universal Music India for possible future projects.

i want to see these singers in ARR's albums:

1.Madhumitha (excellent voice)
- so far she never sang any full fledged song for ARR.She has only sang bits
and chorus in his songs so far. She is the beautiful voice behind some tracks
in Slumdog Millionaire.

2.Saindhavi
- last we saw her in ARR's song was Kelaamal - Azhagiya Tamizh Magan. What a
voice sooo freshh!!!

3.Sriram Parthasarathy - again, his voice has something magical. the 1st and
last we saw him singing in ARR was in Kelaamal - Azhagiya Tamizh Magan as well.

4.Anupama
- what ever happened to her??? its really a pity to see she got branded as a
singer for fast paced numbers. When she sings a melody, her voice is sweeter
than most the singers that we have now. dun believe me? listen to
Eechankathille - V.I.P. I salute Ranjit for showing that beautiful side of
hers in that song!!! Rahman ,please please make anupama sing melodies in ur
songs... it would be perfect!!

5.Chitra Sivaraman
- what ever happened to this excellent singer?? i cant 4get her voice in the
song nethikitten and alle alle ohh please some 1 get her back!!

6.Mukesh
- The theekuruvi-KKS fame. he should sing more songs for ARR. very smooth
voice.!!

[arr] Delhi 6 Music Review - BBC - Music

2009-03-10 Thread Prakash Balaramkrishna
http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/release/56bd/

AR Rahman has produced a perfect
accompaniment to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's, long-awaited Delhi-6:
trippy beats, romantic melodies and even devotional sounds mirror
Delhi's old city.
Masakali (implying freedom or liberation) mixes tempos and is both
melodic and power packed. It is a bubbling, feel-good song, with
interesting and naughty lyrics. Mohit Chauhan impresses with his vocal
range and ensures that this track will become one of the biggest hits
on the album.
Arziyan, a qawwali, harks to the spirit of Islam in old Delhi. Javed
Ali and Kailash Kher mesmerize as they sing with tabla and harmonium.
Genda Phool captures Rajasthani folk culture. Rekha Bharadwaj keeps
it authentic though a funky-beat finishes the track on groovy hip-hop
note. Rekha appears again with a quartet of female singers chanting the
evocative bhajan Aarti (Tumre Bhavan Mein).
In stark contrast, Dilli-6, sung by Blaaze (an Indian-based rapper),
is undisputedly the boldest track on the album. Filled with attitude,
flair, and style the track mixes toxic techno, pop and bass.
Hey Kaala Bandar is another track that pushes the boundaries,
infusing rap and pop over a bubbly and upbeat tune, but lacks Rahman's
trademark melodies.
Rahman himself, features on Rehna Tu. Reminiscent of songs from
Mehra's previous film, Rang De Basanti, it is pure vintage AR and
lights up the soundtrack.
Acting legend, Amitabh Bachchan, closes the album with a spiritual,
poetic ode, Noor. Written by Prasoon Joshi, it should make more sense
in the film but merely surprises here.
Time and time again, Rahman produces music that is so original and
so unique that one can't help but be in awe of his every creation.
Delhi-6 is yet another example of his brilliance.

[arr] Single Review : Jai Ho

2009-03-10 Thread $ Pavan Kumar $
A.R. Rahman Pussycat Dolls: 'Jai Ho!'
Released on Monday, March 16 2009
By Nick Levine, Music Editor

If someone had told you this time last year that A.R. Rahman, the Indian film
composer once dubbed the Mozart of Madras, would be collaborating with the
Pussycat Dolls, you'd have said, Yeah right - and Bob Dylan's going to duet
with Britney. Well, thanks to the ever-swelling power of Slumdog Millionaire,
the seemingly ridiculous has happened.

In fact, the unlikely pair - well, sextet - have teamed up for an English
interpretation of 'Jai Ho!', the winner of this year's Oscar for Best Original
Song. The Hindi original, which soundtracks the Bollywood dance routine at the
end of the movie, is far more urgent and atmospheric, but this remake works
nicely enough as a slick, shamelessly opportunistic PCD single. Well, that
hollered JAI HO! makes for a pretty sweet pop hook, you have to admit.

i want to see these singers in ARR's albums:

6.Mukesh
- The theekuruvi- KKS fame. he should sing more songs for ARR. very smooth

AR Rahman has produced a perfect accompaniment to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's,
long-awaited Delhi-6: trippy beats, romantic melodies and even devotional
sounds mirror Delhi's old city.
Masakali (implying freedom or liberation) mixes tempos and is both melodic and
power packed. It is a bubbling, feel-good song, with interesting and naughty
lyrics. Mohit Chauhan impresses with his vocal range and ensures that this
track will become one of the biggest hits on the album.
Arziyan, a qawwali, harks to the spirit of Islam in old Delhi. Javed Ali and
Kailash Kher mesmerize as they sing with tabla and harmonium.
Genda Phool captures Rajasthani folk culture. Rekha Bharadwaj keeps it
authentic though a funky-beat finishes the track on groovy hip-hop note. Rekha
appears again with a quartet of female singers chanting the evocative bhajan
Aarti (Tumre Bhavan Mein).
In stark contrast, Dilli-6, sung by Blaaze (an Indian-based rapper), is
undisputedly the boldest track on the album. Filled with attitude, flair, and
style the track mixes toxic techno, pop and bass.
Hey Kaala Bandar is another track that pushes the boundaries, infusing rap and
pop over a bubbly and upbeat tune, but lacks Rahman's trademark melodies.
Rahman himself, features on Rehna Tu. Reminiscent of songs from Mehra's
previous film, Rang De Basanti, it is pure vintage AR and lights up the
soundtrack.
Acting legend, Amitabh Bachchan, closes the album with a spiritual, poetic ode,
Noor. Written by Prasoon Joshi, it should make more sense in the film but
merely surprises here.
Time and time again, Rahman produces music that is so original and so unique
that one can't help but be in awe of his every creation. Delhi-6 is yet another
example of his brilliance.

they had ever met Oscar winning composer A R Rahman
[Images http://search.rediff.com/imgsrch/default.php?MT=a r rahman], and

*

Shyam Shivadas writes in to say that he met Rahman during a reality show a
few months ago. He shares his memories:*

I was fortunate to meet A R Rahman during the launch of a band hunt reality
show -- The Big Band Hunt -- held in Delhi
[Imageshttp://search.rediff.com/imgsrch/default.php?MT=delhi
] a couple of months back. Rahman was conducting the reality show in
association with Phat Phish across seven countries. I was coordinating the
media interviews at the event and had to occasionally approach him to inform
him about the schedule and mode of interviews.

He was very down-to-earth with no airs of being a maestro in the field.

He was in Delhi only for a few hours, and so he requested me to rush up with
interviews. Very soft-spoken with a soft and gentle smile, he obliged
whoever approached him for an autograph or photograph. He made
me comfortable enough to put my hand across his shoulders for a snap with my
colleagues Deepika and Garima.

I often interact with stars in my profession but not someone like him. He is
the best.

*Keep those memories coming moviesrev...@rediff.co.in in. The world would

[arr] Rahman thus emerges as a magician who can concoct brilliant mixtures

2009-03-10 Thread Vithur
*Music of the soul *

MEERA SRINIVASAN

*A.R. Rahman’s journey from being a young lad who was enticed by the
keyboard to becoming a world-class musician is marked by a rare grit. *

  MIKE BLAKE/REUTERS

*A.R. Rahman with his two Oscars at the 81st Academy Awards ceremony in
Hollywood on February 22. *

“I FEEL like a slate waiting to be written on.” These were the words of
Allah Rakha Rahman, after he was honoured by the Rotary Club in Chennai last
June. In less than a year, so much has got written on the “slate”, one would
think. But ask him, “Oh, this is just a beginning. There is so much more to
do,” is what he said after returning home with the two Oscars for *Slumdog
Millionaire *(Best Score and Best Song).

No matter how many coveted awards flood in, Rahman will remain the same, a
simple musician humbled by the magnificence of music. “The spirit of his
music is in his total devotion to the art; it is a complete surrender,” says
Srinivas Krishnan, mentor at Rahman’s K.M. Music Conservatory. “We often
talk about M.S. Subbulakshmi’s music, which is an example of that kind of
devotion.”

Rahman’s journey from being a young lad, who was enticed by the keyboard, to
becoming a world-class musician is marked by perseverance and a rare grit.

These were, perhaps, in his genes, for his mother Kareena Begum is herself
an inspiring model of courage and determination.

“Our father passed away when Rahman was about 10. Things were not easy at
home. But my mother made sure that we did not feel our father’s absence and
brought us up with so much love,” says Rahane, the eldest daughter of the
family.

On the day Rahman, his wife Saira and his mother returned to their
Kodambakkam residence after the Oscars, Kareena Begum, who was greeted by
excited well-wishers, merely smiled and said: “It is God’s grace.”

Rahman, who also believes that every success of his is a divine gift,
converted to Islam in the early 1990s. It is said that an inexplicable sense
of reassurance and comfort that the words of a saint created in Dilip Kumar
(as Rahman was then known) persuaded him to take a new path as Allah Rakha
Rahman.

Listen to his “Anbendra mazhaiyile” (*Minsaara Kanavu*), “O palan hare” (*
Lagaan*) or “Khwaja mere Khwaja” (*Jodhaa Akbar*). In all the three tunes,
binding the lyrics on different faiths, there is a common underlying melody
that conveys submission. “Music and religion are the only important things
for him,” says Fathima, Rahman’s younger sister.

With these two guiding forces, Rahman plunged into the media industry, with
tunes that came like the fresh breeze. “It was so unbelievably new,
different and ahead of its times,” says Trilok of Trish Productions, which
made the Leo Coffee advertisement with Rahman’s score.

The strains from that veena and flute, in the predominantly melodious piece,
had the stamp of a genius and highlighted the influence classical music had
on him. It was Trilok and Sharada of Trish who later introduced Rahman to
film director Mani Ratnam, for an association that was to produce some of
the best melodies and stylish numbers that Kollywood can boast of.

Rahman and Mani Ratnam

In 1992, Rahman’s national award-winning music for *Roja* was a revelation.
Suddenly, everyone’s ears tuned in to the magic of “Chinna chinna aasai”.
The brief vocal prelude to “Kaadal rojavae” was powerful and the mischief in
“Rukkumani rukkumani” made listeners blush. “Pudu vellai mazhai” virtually
took one to snow-covered mountains and “Tamizha Tamizha” introduced
Hariharan’s voice to the world of films. Ever since, whenever Rahman and
Mani Ratnam teamed up, audiences knew that they were in for a musical
extravaganza. Be it *Thiruda Thiruda*, *Bombay*, *Dil Se*, *Iruvar*, *
Alaipayuthey*, *Kannathil Muthamittal*, *Ayitha Ezhuthu* or *Guru*.

Several such associations blossomed, not just with directors who were
willing to experiment with a new kind of music but also with veterans, whose
films were known for phenomenal numbers scored by celebrated music
directors. Somehow, for Rahman, each and every combination began to work, be
it with Shankar, Rajiv Menon, S.J. Surya, K. Balachander or Bharathiraja.
Meanwhile, *Rangeela* had invaded Bollywood’s music territory and from then
on, most of Bollywood’s best numbers were to come from Rahman. His music had
also become enough of a passport to the West. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s *Bombay
Dreams* led to more associations abroad and the Oscars were imminent. When
Rahman received the Oscars, it was seen as an acknowledgement of the hard
work that a little boy had put in for years. And now, the music director
has, indeed, done the full circle, from Kollywood to Bollywood and
Hollywood, while modestly emphasising that his journey has just begun.

It is this genuine modesty that

authentic though a funky-beat finishes the track on groovy hip-hop note.
Rekha appears again with a quartet of female singers chanting the evocative
 bhajan Aarti (Tumre Bhavan Mein).
In stark contrast, Dilli-6, sung by Blaaze (an Indian-based rapper), is
undisputedly the boldest track on the album. Filled with attitude, flair, and
style the track mixes toxic techno, pop and bass.
Hey Kaala Bandar is another track that pushes the boundaries, infusing rap
and pop over a bubbly and upbeat tune, but lacks Rahman's trademark melodies.
Rahman himself, features on Rehna Tu. Reminiscent of songs from Mehra's
previous film, Rang De Basanti, it is pure vintage AR and lights up the
 soundtrack.
Acting legend, Amitabh Bachchan, closes the album with a spiritual, poetic
ode, Noor. Written by Prasoon Joshi, it should make more sense in the film
 but merely surprises here.
Time and time again, Rahman produces music that is so original and so unique
that one can't help but be in awe of his every creation. Delhi-6 is yet
 another example of his brilliance.

[arr] Oscar Celebrations by COIMBATORE fans

2009-03-10 Thread vky_tup

Dear Rahmaniacs,

Sunday was one of the very best days of my life and
everyone who made their presence at DON BOSCO ANBU ILLAM at
Ukkadam[Coimbatore]would have felt the same i bet. It was a splendid occassion
where we all A.R.Rahman fans of coimbatore had gathered to share the joy and
celebrate the oscar glory of our boss with the 125 children of the home, the
purest hearts and the happiest souls i have come across ever with full of
smiles and loads of love.

Usually we do our activities every month at a home owned by the
same trust but with a smaller strength. The children there are also by now very
attached to us. But this time its oscar celebrations and it has to be little
bigger. So we chose their main home which hosted some 125 children.

All our plans were to cut the cake and the celebrate with them
and provide all the 125 children and 10 staffs with a special and hearty
dinner. They were much beyond our expectations. When we reached there by 6'o
clock these kids greeted and welcomed us and mingled with us immediately.

The first person to greet me was a very tiny one[may 4-5 years] who shook hand
with me and took me by surprise asking why was A.R.Rahman given two awards.
The kind of love they showed on us was as if they knew us for years and all of
us belonged to the same family.

They all together sang for us the the most celebrated track of
our boss ella pugalum oruvan oruvanukkey from atm.imagine some hundred plus
ppl that too all children singing this one in unision. For a moment i thought
their voice was gonna bring down the roof and reach the skies. Then two kids
celebrating their birthday blew the candles off and cut the cakes meaning while
all the ppl
around were yelling at the top of their voice ,JAIHO!!! and with that one my
ears surely went deaf fora minute. They Jumped with us,danced with us and even
lifted a few of us..

A.R. Rahman’s journey from being a young lad who was enticed by the keyboard to
becoming a world-class musician is marked by a rare grit.

MIKE BLAKE/REUTERS

A.R. Rahman with his two Oscars at the 81st Academy Awards ceremony in
Hollywood on February 22.

“I FEEL like a slate waiting to be written on.” These were the words of Allah
Rakha Rahman, after he was honoured by the Rotary Club in Chennai last June. In
less than a year, so much has got written on the “slate”, one would think. But
ask him, “Oh, this is just a beginning. There is so much more to do,” is what
he said after returning home with the two Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire (Best
Score and Best Song).
No matter how many coveted awards flood in, Rahman will remain the same, a
simple musician humbled by the magnificence of music. “The spirit of his music
is in his total devotion to the art; it is a complete surrender,” says Srinivas
Krishnan, mentor at Rahman’s K.M. Music Conservatory. “We often talk about M.S.
Subbulakshmi’ s music, which is an example of that kind of devotion.”
Rahman’s journey from being a young lad, who was enticed by the keyboard, to
becoming a world-class musician is marked by perseverance and a rare grit.
These were, perhaps, in his genes, for his mother Kareena Begum is herself an
inspiring model of courage and determination.
“Our father passed away when Rahman was about 10. Things were not easy at home.
But my mother made sure that we did not feel our father’s absence and brought
us up with so much love,” says Rahane, the eldest daughter of the family.
On the day Rahman, his wife Saira and his mother returned to their Kodambakkam
residence after the Oscars, Kareena Begum, who was greeted by excited
well-wishers, merely smiled and said: “It is God’s grace.”
Rahman, who also believes that every success of his is a divine gift, converted
to Islam in the early 1990s. It is said that an inexplicable sense of
reassurance and comfort that the words of a saint created in Dilip Kumar (as
Rahman was then known) persuaded him to take a new path as Allah Rakha Rahman.
Listen to his “Anbendra mazhaiyile” (Minsaara Kanavu), “O palan hare” (Lagaan)
or “Khwaja mere Khwaja” (Jodhaa Akbar). In all the three tunes, binding the
lyrics on different faiths, there is a common underlying melody that conveys
submission. “Music and religion are the only important things for him,” says
Fathima, Rahman’s younger sister.
With these two guiding forces, Rahman plunged into the media industry, with
tunes that came like the fresh breeze. “It was so unbelievably new, different
and ahead of its times,” says Trilok of Trish Productions, which made the Leo
Coffee advertisement with Rahman’s score.
The strains from that veena and flute, in the predominantly melodious piece,
had the stamp of a genius and highlighted the influence classical music had on
him. It was Trilok and Sharada of Trish who later introduced Rahman to film
director Mani Ratnam, for an association that was to produce some of the best
melodies and stylish numbers that Kollywood can boast of.

In 1992, Rahman’s national award-winning music for Roja was a revelation.
Suddenly, everyone’s ears tuned in to the magic of “Chinna chinna aasai”. The
brief vocal prelude to “Kaadal rojavae” was powerful and the mischief in
“Rukkumani rukkumani” made listeners blush. “Pudu vellai mazhai” virtually took
one to snow-covered mountains and “Tamizha Tamizha” introduced Hariharan’s
voice to the world of films. Ever since, whenever Rahman and Mani Ratnam teamed
up, audiences knew that they were in for a musical extravaganza. Be it Thiruda
Thiruda, Bombay, Dil Se, Iruvar, Alaipayuthey, Kannathil Muthamittal, Ayitha
Ezhuthu or Guru.
Several such associations blossomed, not just with directors who were willing
to experiment with a new kind of music but also with veterans, whose films were
known for phenomenal numbers scored by celebrated music directors. Somehow, for
Rahman, each and every combination began to work, be it with Shankar, Rajiv
Menon, S.J. Surya, K. Balachander or Bharathiraja. Meanwhile, Rangeela had
invaded Bollywood’s music territory and from then on, most of Bollywood’s best
numbers were to come from Rahman. His music had also become enough of a
passport to the West. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Bombay Dreams led to more
associations abroad and the Oscars were imminent. When

[arr] Impact of Rahman's message of love

2009-03-10 Thread Reformed Sinner
i've been regularly reading some Rahman, Ilayaraja Harris Jeyaraj fan
groups in Orkut over the last couple of months. earlier i used to notice
some hardcore fans of each composer abusing other composers. LIke some
Ilayaraja fans abusing ARR n some HJ fans abusing ARR so on. And ARR fans
used to respond to those.

But after Rahman's recent appeal to his fans to stay away from degrading
other composers and their compositions on the web, i see a positive effect
cutting across all fan groups. everyone is talking about peace, love
respect for other composers. nice to see fans respecting each other.

never before have i seen such unity among music fans. there always used to
be whos the best kind of debates in fan clubs. now its all like ARR is
great. IR is great. lets respect both kind of talk.

Rahman's message of love peace has had a great impact - what you guys say?
only hope this sense of unity lasts forever.

i want to see these singers in ARR's albums:

   1.Madhumitha (excellent voice)
   - so far she never sang any full fledged song for ARR.She has only sang
bits and chorus in his songs so far. She is the beautiful voice behind some
 tracks in Slumdog Millionaire.

   2.Saindhavi
   - last we saw her in ARR's song was Kelaamal - Azhagiya Tamizh Magan.
 What a voice sooo freshh!!!

3.Sriram Parthasarathy - again, his voice has something magical. the
1st and last we saw him singing in ARR was in Kelaamal - Azhagiya Tamizh
 Magan as well.

   4.Anupama
   - what ever happened to her??? its really a pity to see she got branded
as a singer for fast paced numbers. When she sings a melody, her voice is
sweeter than most the singers that we have now. dun believe me? listen to
Eechankathille - V.I.P. I salute Ranjit for showing that beautiful side of
hers in that song!!! Rahman ,please please make anupama sing melodies in ur
 songs... it would be perfect!!

   5.Chitra Sivaraman
   - what ever happened to this excellent singer?? i cant 4get her voice
in the song nethikitten and alle alle ohh please some 1 get her back!!

   6.Mukesh
   - The theekuruvi- KKS fame. he should sing more songs for ARR. very
 smooth voice.!!

Rahman himself doesn't expect any monetary contribution from his fans. The
logistics involved in managing a trust is not simple and it is unfair to
expect Gopal or other members to do everything. I appreciate your idea. You
could start something, like Vithur and group did, rather than wait for
others.

Money is the least important resource, time and will are more important.

Sports and music are entirely different. ARR will always be motivated for
sure, but he's got to take care of his health. He is not immune to the perils
of the human body. His spirituality does sustain him a lot, but there is a
limit. Hope ARR takes the proper precautions to ensure a long, healthy life to
come. He's only in his early 40s. Hope he has another 40-50 years left.

i want to see these singers in ARR's albums:

   1.Madhumitha (excellent voice)
   - so far she never sang any full fledged song for ARR.She has only
sang bits and chorus in his songs so far. She is the beautiful voice behind
 some tracks in Slumdog Millionaire.

   4.Anupama
   - what ever happened to her??? its really a pity to see she got
branded as a singer for fast paced numbers. When she sings a melody, her
voice is sweeter than most the singers that we have now. dun believe me?
listen to Eechankathille - V.I.P. I salute Ranjit for showing that
beautiful side of hers in that song!!! Rahman ,please please make anupama
sing melodies in ur songs... it would be perfect!!

***Rashid Ali is working on an independent album under A R Rahman’s KM
Musiq label*

Forty-two is an unlikely age to debut as a playback singer in the Hindi film
industry but Rashid Ali has become one of the most sought-after voices after
his Kabhi Kabhi Aditi from Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na topped the charts last
year.

However, the London-based singer is not rushing into Bollywood projects.
Instead, Ali is currently working on an independent album under A R Rahman’s
KM Musiq label, through which the Academy Award-winning composer wants to
showcase fresh and unique talent.

“A R Rahman and I conceptualised the project last year, although we have
known each other for nearly eight years now. The project is still being
refined and it’s difficult for me to give out details at this stage,” says
Ali.

All the tracks in the album, which yet remains untitled, are Ali’s own
compositions and arrangements. The album has Ali on the guitar as well as on
vocals.

The reticent singer feels he has much to thank Rahman for. “I first met AR
in the UK and I guess he appreciated my talent the first time he heard me
sing and play the guitar. I have since worked with him and was part of the
Bombay Dreams project too.”

Ali, who was nominated for the Best Playback singer (Male) for the 15th Star
Screen Awards for his debut song, was in Mumbai recently.

Though back in London for now, he will return to India soon to work on the
album.
