[arr] Songs As Per Mood Swings...!!

Hey Rahmaniacs,

Before getting into the purpose of this mail, let me get to the background
of such a thought...
Right now, i am just waiting for a meeting to happen with a prospective
client...
I got time and thought to relax with Rahman Sirs music...

To calm my mind the songs immediately came to me were, Pachai Nirame...from
Alaippayuthe... then..Vellai pookkal...From kannathil muthamittal...Mustaffa
from Kadal Desham and all...

These came just random...I was wondering we go through so many situations
like this..maybe some client meeting...some interview...some date...some
tragedy..some celebration like wedding or birthday or anniversary or just a
get together...?

I am sure there will be some or the other songs for each situation by AR
Rahman Sir

Now, coming to the topic, lets start a discussion on various moods and their
most appropriate song (3 atleast).. What say, friends...?

Without offending anybody - If you are spending your time just waiting for
ARR's release and doing nothing else, you have all the rights to be
offended. There are products which impacted business that got delayed
(Windows), which impacted lives that got delayed (relief funds)..it is there
we should be frustrated not for music release that was not even officially
announced.

Was never expecting to see couples retreat on this list or the list for the 
oscars. The reality is no matter how good sometihng is, if it is not exposed 
enough, it would not gain the recognition via awards. 
 
This happens even in india. Excellent music such as Yuvvraaj did not make the 
awards nominations here, becasue the movie flopped and the music went 
underexposed!

CNN-IBN Indian of the Year is the prime and the most
plausible awards of the Country. The association is ready to respect
and recognize the Indians whose endeavor stood tall in the year 2009.
The CNN IBN Indian of the Year 2009 award was given
to A R Rahman and Kamal Haasan by Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan
Singh yesterday. According to the PTI report, Academy Award winner A R
Rahman won over the Indian of the Year in the Entertainment category
from Amitabh Bachchan. Big B was voted for doing the role of a
13-year-old in ‘Paa’, and entertaining the nation for forty years now.
Kamal Haasan received the Special Achievement Award form the CNN-IBN
team for completing 50 years in cinema.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh described A R Rahman's
music as inspirational.  “Rahman’s music is inspirational... When I
heard Rahman in the White House, you cannot imagine the sense of joy
and achievement...,” Singh said, after conferring the award in New
Delhi.
It is a triumph for music. I hope it inspires more
people and lessens the divide, said the Oscar winning music maestro,
who was also given an award for entertainment. He said “lessening the
divide” through music was his intention.
When asked what was it about his music that wowed
the world Rahman said, I don't know. I think the philosophy of music
playing larger role, being selective and blessings of God.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Sitar
maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. Praising the maestro, the Prime Minister
called him an inspirational genius, saying There is only one
Panditji and he has been a role model and will be a role model.

dude, if u think im the only 1 reacting such, u need to get out to the
real world and see the frustration there. I just received dozens of sms
expressing their frustration towards the way the whole thing that was
handled. Its just indigestible about the gap between the launch and release.
Nothing regarding ARR or his music not being worth await. Please do not fuel
in the wrong idea here. Im not forcing anyone but our views should be
reached to the upper part as well. Its the part of the entertainment cycle.
Its good that this issue is being discussed here. Hope this issue doesnt
occur in ARR's releases again! Next time know the content well before tying
to drop in ur comments.

Once again Arvind, great review on the album. Rhythm is definitely one of my 
personal favourite albums too. I'm glad that you took the time to write about 
the beauty of each and every song of the album. Nevertheless, what happen to 
the review on Katre En Vaasal? Did you intentionally leave that out or am I the 
only one who's not able to read them? 

Like you, I've been visiting some of ARR's older albums in recent time too...My 
car stereo is currently playing songs from Puthiya Manargal for the umpteenth 
timeand yet I'm not getting bored of hearing to them. If you have the time, 
do revisit this album as well. Truly a wonderful album of ARR's.

   These days,  seldom does a movie and its music captivates us 
because of its sheer simplicity! Rhythm definelty falls under such category. 
The music and movie both moves like a sweet breeze not tampering upon each 
other(except Aiyyo Pathikicchi though!). While the movie is based on the  
realistic
challenges that people face while setting a steady course for their lives, 
the songs of this movie is based upon the quintessential 5 elements of this 
planet. All the 5 elements, viz. Land, Water, Fire, Air and Sky, are showcaused 
so perfectly in the songs that makes the listener go awestruck and dance in 
reverence! 


Nadhiye Nadhiye (Water) --- Unni Menon and Chorus

    Dheem Tanana Dheem Tanana Dheem Tananaa... thus begins a 
swooning and swaying music in the voice of ever refreshing Unni Menon. The 
water gushing sounds in this song makes anyone imagine oneself bathing in a 
mighty river and enjoying the swim. Vairamuthu's comparisons between a woman 
and river are plain historic and can't be rewritten by anyone! His lyrics
 goes above par excellence which deserves every
 accolades and awards. The female chorus hums and gushes even as Unni Menon 
describe their beauties. A stunning composition by Rahman ji which registers 
inside all music lovers for many years to come.!


Thaniye Thanandhaniye (Land) --- Shankar Mahadevan

 A song based on the Land which talks about its patience 
and stability to with-hold the burden. As usual, its a tailor made song for 
Shankar Mahadevan who also makes his appearance in the video matching some 
steps to the tunes of ARR. I personally liked only the pallavi(Mukhda) part of 
the song. I somehow felt the Charanam(Antara) looses its fizz in the middle and 
later bounce back to its glory. The same song was totally rejuvenated by Rahman 
sir in the hindi song Nachley.. sung by
 Daler Mehendi for the movie Lakeer. The interludes of this song has some great 
instrumental pieces which pushes one to an imaginary world. 

Aiyyo Pattikicchhi (Fire) --- Udit Narayan , Vasundhara Das
 
              The only element which appears to have added for commercial/ box 
office
compulsories in this movie. Audio is quite appealing and sounds very 
seducting. Vairamuthu binds in the passion of love with a wild fire and writes 
some daring words like ..Neruppai Neruppal Anaippom Vaa . Picturised on 
Ramya Krishnan and Raju Sundaram, the visuals are bright red flames all over.  
Udit Narayan, as usual butchers the language and yet sounds like a perfect 
match for the song. Nothing to tell about Vasundhara Das, its her forte`. The 
flute(may be Navin) piece is the most appealing part in the interludes and so 
is Vasundhara's tatarat. ..  hummings.

deserves to win the Special FX award but doesn't deserves to be even nominated 
for other awards. 
As far as the album and song goes a lot is determined by the Movie as well. 
Hence Couples retreat is just not in the league of an award winner. It is just 
another romcom... same applies to knowing as well.

While I agree with Gopal's sane argument, it is reasonable to expect fans and 
normal people to look forward to the CD, during a launch event. That has been 
the trend in the Indian music industry for ages. If the event was a glitzy 
gimmick to spread the word about the movie - it is perfectly fine, but the 
makers should have anticipated the expectations of listeners/ fans and 
considered communicating the fact that it is, well, a glitzy gimmick for PR 
alone. 

Earlier, there was no outlet for such communication - today, such communication 
is possible very easily and it can spread via groups like this so that people 
do not end up blaming everyone from Rahman...to the watchman of an obscure 
music store in Abhiramapuram...for the delay. Its just a matter of 
communication and respecting the sentiments of fans, who will anyway buy the CD 
in droves. If the makers assumed only the latter (fans will buy anyway) and not 
the former (sentiments), its quite unfortunate.

Recently i read Shreya Ghoshal's tweet (i think) where she said she recorded 
the telugu version of a VTV song. 
Now Gautham Menon is making a film in telugu that has Chaitanya (son of 
Nagarjuna) and ARR is scoring music. It is being produced by the same lady who 
produced Nani (which was simultaneously done in Tamil by S.J.Surya). So i think 
this Chaitanya-Gautham Menon-ARR film is a remake of VTV.
