Re: [Jbeta] release build 1.13

2012-05-15 Thread Eric Iverson
The html window just shows html5 content. This content could come from
local files or from the web.

jp (plot) runs completely locally. Plots do not depend on wifi. The
calculations are done in J and J then formats the html5 canvas data
required to do the plot. That data is put in a local file and that file is
display in the html frame at the top of your J session.

I am not sure I understand the HTML window and its relation to wIfi. It

rely on wifi is a little disappointing.

I deduced that the HTML window uses Wi-Fi for a plot because if I turn off
Wi-Fi a plot did not appear. A viewmat did appear with Wi-Fi off.

Please try that experiment again in various ways. Plot should not be
affected by wifi state.

Eric,

Where can I find this beta, or is it restricted to
a few testers? I'd like to try it on our iPhones.

I forgot to mention the best thing. I finally figured out how to have space
and quote not change the keyboard back to alpha AND to keep the cursor
position (that is, not jump to the end).

The ?import/export help hasn't been updated to reflect changes in
clipboard support. Read ?utilities first to figure out the required

At this early stage we are using apple ad-hoc distribution with the help of
test flight. I'll send you a separate message detailing how you can become
a beta tester.

Thanks Brian,

jh is listed in ?help but like so many things in J there is much more to it
than meets the eye. I find the most useful link is:

 jh 'a href=http://www.jsoftware.com/docs/help701/dictionary/vocabul.htm;
click /a'

Since that gives heads up display of the vocabulary (a section that I seem to
spend a lot of time reading as I code! :) )

Cheers, bob
